Extra Chapter: Part 1

1

He Chen transferred schools, this was the third time, the third time in his first year of high school.

On the day he reported to the new school with his mother, the weather was not very good. There was a light drizzle that never seemed to stop and dark clouds that obscured almost all light.

“He Chen, please, this time don’t get into any fights at the new school!”

“Do you really want your father to bring those miscellaneous people from outside to replace you?”

His mother often worried too much. But He Chen knew it was for his own good.

“…Yeah, got it.”

They were standing near the stairs by the office.

While absentmindedly responding to his mother, He Chen noticed a male student quickly climb the stairs, taking three steps at a time, holding a book in his hand.

Seemingly aware of He Chen’s gaze, the male student paused, turned his head, and flashed a smile at him before cursing under his breath and hurrying upstairs.

Just like him, an alpha, He Chen thought.

But not at all similar.

2

Just a month after transferring, everyone started avoiding He Chen—rumors had spread from somewhere that he once killed someone before.

An alpha who didn’t like to talk, had poor grades, and looked at people like they were stones.

It was hard not to believe such rumors.

He Chen didn’t care. He calculated in his mind how long he could last this time, since many people seemed to dislike him.

In the second semester of the second year, the first to approach him was that high-achieving omega. Possibly out of fear, he was accompanied by another alpha.

“Classmate…your homework, the teacher said you should at least write something…”

He Chen turned away and continued napping, not intending to respond.

“…Xu Yuan, what should we do…”

Someone approached him, carrying a faint floral scent.

His cap was lifted, and along with the light, a politely smiling face came into view.

“He Chen, right? If you don’t hand in your homework, I’ll personally escort you to the office. The homeroom teacher might make you write all these assignments under her watch, which would be absolute torture. You might as well copy something now, it’s easier than the suffering later.”

How annoying, why did this person talk so much?

3

The long-silent group finally found an opportunity to corner He Chen in an alley. Spewing nonsense about new grudges and old grievances, accusing him of stealing people and such.

He Chen found them unreasonable. Although he had only reported their group fights and smoking a few times, they turned their ire towards him.

As for stealing people, he had always found the things those omegas liked to be strange. And those so-called teachers were also strange, always seeming to think that in campus fights, the winner was the instigator.

This time was probably the same.

He Chen tossed his bag to the ground and coldly watched the group in front of him. It would only take ten minutes—

Suddenly someone barged into the alley, shielding him.

“I’m telling you, I’ve already called the teachers! You’d better leave if you know what’s good for you!”

The person in front held a stick, with an incorrect stance, and a slightly trembling voice. Even He Chen knew he was probably bluffing about calling the teachers.

The rowdy group only got more excited upon hearing this, with some even making comments about Xu Yuan’s gender.

“Look at that pretty face of yours, big brother doesn’t discriminate, how about you…”The implication in that smile was blatant.

This obedient student probably hadn’t encountered such a scene before, He Chen saw his ears turning beet red from behind.

Unable to watch any longer, He Chen took it upon himself to start this battle.

Originally he thought this petite alpha would stay aside, but who knew he would attack without any technique, flailing the stick. If He Chen hadn’t hooked an arm around his waist, he probably would have collided with the opposite wall.

Letting out an inaudible sigh, He Chen said softly, “Are you here to cause trouble?”

4

“He Chen, He Chen…He Chen, say something!”

“Hey! This time I at least helped cover for you and handle the aftermath, that’s why you didn’t get a demerit—”

“Oh right, I told the teacher to move my seat next to yours, we’ll be third years soon, so let’s work hard.”

“Why do you look so grumpy? You’re such a handsome Alpha, not smiling is a waste of that face! No, I won’t allow it!”

He Chen silently pulled the black hoodie over his head, folded his arms, and leaned back in his chair, gazing out at the blue sky.

The person beside him was still solving problems while chattering away.

He suddenly felt that this wasn’t so bad—being an alpha, talking a bit more, being careless. This was just fine.

5

Before the college entrance exam, everyone needed to clean out their desks.

Xu Yuan was temporarily called away by the teacher.

In the chaos, a pink envelope fell out from his desk. He Chen frowned slightly and picked it up from the floor.

He shouldn’t have opened the envelope.

This was probably the most out-of-control thing he had done—opening the envelope, seeing the contents, noticing the signature.

He Chen felt his world revert to how it was before. He stood motionless for a long while, the letter gradually becoming crumpled in his hand.

He could never allow this to happen.

6

He deliberately failed the college entrance exam, going home to deal with that pile of mess.

His mother finally had an emotional breakdown from the accumulated stress, so after admitting her to a nursing home, He Chen returned home and directly tossed a thick file onto his father’s office desk.

“Let’s make a deal.” His gaze was indifferent, too lazy to even spare this so-called father a glance.

The tall alpha picked up the file and opened it to find contents that could imprison him for life.

He hid his emotional turmoil well, looking up at this tight-lipped son who had always kept his claws sheathed.

“What deal do you want to make?”

“In five years, I need 55% of the company’s shares. In addition, I won’t interfere with the assets you intend to leave to your illegitimate child. At the same time, don’t try to interfere with my relationships.”

Of course, his agreement was just a temporary truce.

The alpha father eventually chose to hire thugs to kidnap him. But he didn’t expect He Chen’s capabilities to have grown this formidable.

On the day Xu Yuan prepared to confess to the omega, He Chen, who had been absent for a long time due to a knife injury, suddenly appeared and forcibly inserted himself between them.

Xu Yuan didn’t know their subsequent conversation.

“He’s mine.”

The omega was taken aback, then immediately realized what he meant. With a faint smile, the Omega said, “Xu Yuan always thought you didn’t like him, so you never talked to him. I didn’t expect it was for this reason.”

He sighed in relief, chuckling, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell him. You’d better hurry up!”

7

He Chen developed severe insomnia.

On one hand, he had to constantly guard against his father’s actions. On the other, he had to study tirelessly to catch up to Xu Yuan.

Sometimes he wondered why? It seemed the Goddess of Fortune had never favored him.

Other times, he felt the goddess did love him; at least she brought him, Xu Yuan.

He Chen never believed feelings were a matter of fate.

Late at night, he sat up from bed, turned on the lamp, and took out a photo from the drawer.

The person in it lay with eyes closed, sleeping restlessly.

He Chen remembered, that day Xu Yuan had a fever, and he had snapped this photo after carrying him to the infirmary.

Missing him.
