Chapter 14: The Great Dream

In the dream.

Chu Jin didn’t know how long he had been sinking in the “deep sea”.

A faint glow surrounded Chu Jin, strange symbols appearing around him.

Suddenly, noise filled his ears. Chu Jin slowly opened his eyes to see a small “glass house” suddenly materialize in the depths of what should have been a bottomless “ocean”.

Calling it a “glass house” wasn’t quite accurate. It was more of a square, confined space of about two square meters, enclosed by walls of air.

A disheveled young man paced back and forth in the cramped space, cursing and occasionally kicking the air walls. He wore a slightly yellowed white shirt that hadn’t been washed in a long time, its front haphazardly tucked into his pants.

“System! System! System!”

The young man was clearly agitated. He had worked with the system across several worlds. By all rights, someone with the original host’s rebellious personality should have been the easiest “prey” to be forgotten. Any excuse would have naturally changed their personality from willful to considerate.

Most parents and relatives of replaced original hosts wouldn’t even question why their personalities had changed. They would simply sigh at how their child had finally grown up.

“System, didn’t Chu Jin forget too? How could there still be an accident?”

In this world, Chu Jin was indeed an anomaly.

According to the system’s assessment, Luo An was the typical rebellious and willful youth, the kind most likely to conflict with those around him and be ignored.

The young man heard no response from the system. He tugged at his hair in anguish.

“How could anyone in the world still remember the original host?”

“System, say something!”

But the system’s energy was long depleted. No matter how the young man shouted and pounded, the system remained unresponsive.

The young man was the intruder.

After being forcibly ripped from Luo An’s body, he had been confined to this tiny “glass house”.

Sensing someone approach from behind, the intruder whirled around. The moment he recognized Chu Jin, he frantically pounded on the air wall.

The intruder’s voice trembled: “…You?”

Chu Jin was also scrutinizing the man before him, his hair a tangled mess, his body nearly skeletal.

“Me?”

The intruder gasped violently, “You, didn’t you forget?”

“You all forgot!”

“That body is mine!”

The intruder dared not imagine what would become of him, a soul who had “smuggled” in from another world, now that the original host had returned to his body and the system had fallen into complete dormancy!

From the intruder’s broken words, Chu Jin finally realized the identity of the young man before him.

A cold glint flashed in Chu Jin’s eyes as the points of light surrounding him began to spin!

The strange patterns formed by the twinkling lights centered on Chu Jin, quickly enveloping the “glass house”.

The transparent air walls confining the intruder offered no resistance against these strange points of light. Chu Jin approached the intruder step by step.

The light points spun faster and faster. Half of Chu Jin’s face was illuminated while the other half remained in shadow, a dark gleam flashing in his pupils.

“So—” Chu Jin suddenly smiled, blood-red surging in the depths of his eyes as he looked up at the disheveled young man, who had realized something was wrong and was shrinking back.

Chu Jin’s voice was very low, but just loud enough for the intruder to hear.

Chu Jin said: “So you’re the one who occupied An’an’s body.”

The lights dispersed and regathered, finally reforming into the strange patterns Chu Jin had seen in the old mansion.

The intruder was so frightened he shrank into the corner: “You, don’t come any closer!”

“System! System!”

“System!” In his panic, the intruder made the worst possible choice—he actually tried to forcibly occupy Chu Jin’s body without the system’s help!

“Ah—” The intruder had thought that with his abilities, he could at least fight Chu Jin to the death. But he didn’t know that it was precisely the symbols surrounding Chu Jin that had yanked him out of Luo An’s body. Charging straight at Chu Jin now was tantamount to courting death!

The intruder didn’t even touch Chu Jin. The moment his outstretched hand contacted the symbols around Chu Jin, his palm was instantly burned as if by raging fire, blood gushing forth!

Before the intruder’s eyes, the light points surrounding Chu Jin seemed to transform into blades. Soon, the intruder’s body was covered in wounds.

“System!” The intruder still refused to give up, hoping for a miracle.

“Didn’t you say you had the most advanced algorithm? Where’s your assessment? Didn’t you say no one would remember that useless person?”

The intruder had completely lost his mind, repeatedly hitting his own head, trying to summon the system from his mind.

“Algorithm?” Chu Jin tilted his head, as if he’d heard something amusing.

“What made you think that cold, lifeless thing could calculate the emotions between people?”

After all, emotions are the most unsolvable thing in the world.

A mocking smile tugged at Chu Jin’s lips. The next moment, the light points surrounding him surged forward like a tidal wave!

The curled-up intruder was annihilated in an instant, dissolving into points of white light.

In the dream, Chu Jin staggered, finally succumbing to exhaustion.

“Chu Jin? Chu Jin?”

Just as Chu Jin was about to collapse, a distant call suddenly reached his ears.

Chu Jin recognized Luo An’s voice, but his eyelids were so heavy.

Chu Jin wanted to rest, but… Luo An was calling him.

“…Luo, Luo An?” Chu Jin murmured, “Luo An?”
