Chapter 16: Shocking! Witnessing the Unmasking of an Online Romance

A week’s cycle ends, and a new one begins.

Taking risks can easily make things spiral out of control – this was Qin Yu’s deepest realization after a week’s experience.

He could have continued playing dumb, acting the role of an ambiguous yet passionate lover with that pitiful fellow. At least that would have delayed the news of his being cheated on.

Who knew the guy wasn’t actually that dense? He had likely long suspected his online romance partner wasn’t his fiancé, and even had a good grasp of his fiancé’s whereabouts.

Yesterday’s final inquiry was an attempt to extract information from Qin Yu’s own mouth.

So this guy knew all along he was being cheated on, yet calmly dealt with a fiancé who was two-timing him by casually finding a stranger online for a romance?!

And they chatted for a whole week – this brother was definitely made of big stuff.

This was Qin Yu’s thought as he returned the account to its owner at dawn. He was at a loss for words.

Feeling guilty, he could only hint obliquely to the account owner.

Basically saying that his fiancé wasn’t stupid and knew far more than he thought.

Even soap operas on TV wouldn’t be this dramatic. Qin Yu found the whole affair absurd when it happened to others, but now that it was happening to him, he couldn’t find it funny at all.

Personal experience left him in a dilemma.

Due to time differences and deadlines, Qin Yu specifically chose this hour to contact the account owner. Yet the owner was nowhere to be seen.

Qin Yu, who originally thought the final payment would arrive as agreed, was jolted awake the next day by a string of messages from the account owner.

[My darling is threatening to break up with me because of what you did. He won’t listen to my explanations.]

[So I was wondering if you’re free today? Let’s meet up, the three of us.]

[We can sort this out face-to-face.]

[I’ll pay you the remaining amount in full, but only after we resolve this issue.]

[After all, this started because of you. Though it’s a misunderstanding and I understand, please help out by meeting us.]

Qin Yu never imagined the situation would suddenly develop to this point.

Who wouldn’t know that if he agreed, he’d be truly entangled in this mess with no easy way out?

Online was fine – a fake persona provided excellent camouflage. But reality was a whole different story.

Yet what choice did he have? After a week’s hard work, the last half of the payment was still outstanding.

The issue arose from his actions; Qin Yu admitted that. After much deliberation, he agreed.

They arranged to meet at a coffee shop in Qin Yu’s city. As usual, Qin Yu wore a black hoodie paired with fitted jeans, nicely accentuating his model physique. Even as a part-time model, he had some assets to show off.

Upon arrival, Qin Yu spotted the two sitting closely at a four-person table.

Observing from afar, Qin Yu noticed one man looked somewhat embarrassed, though it didn’t diminish his noble air. Beside him sat another man, likely his “darling,” who was a full head taller even while seated and appeared to be sulking.

What a scheming couple, Qin Yu thought inwardly, considering turning back.

After they met, his respected and concerned client – that brother’s fiancé – opened with:

“Are you a bottom???”

Instantly, curious glances from around the café turned their way. Truly, Qin Yu had never felt so mortified.

Qin Yu didn’t know how he managed to calm himself and handle the situation. He’d expected an unpleasant encounter, possibly being accused of being a homewrecker. Who knew both parties would resolve things so amicably?

During their conversation, he even learned the real name of a certain someone.

“Xie Cen?”

Qin Yu caught the key word in the other’s sentence, curious to inquire further. Suddenly, a vaguely familiar voice sounded from behind him.

A man’s deep voice came from behind Qin Yu.

“Mm, I’m here.”

Raine: I know, I mentioned this should be finished by yesterday. I’m so sorry. I went to the doctor yesterday and turns out my lethargy was health-related. I would probably post sporadically in the next few weeks until we find a way to stop my bleeding.
