Chapter 22: Shocking! Who’s Really Having the Secret Romance Here?

While he claimed to have no expertise in movies, it wasn’t as if he was completely indifferent.

For instance, Qin Yu now sat down calmly, initially worried he might doze off from boredom. He took the popcorn from Xie Cen’s hands, preparing to stave off boredom.

To his surprise, he actually found himself engrossed in the movie.

Thirty minutes into the film, the two main characters shared their first passionate kiss.

A sharp intake of breath echoed from some corner of the theater. The atmosphere on screen grew increasingly heated, with intimate sounds filling the entire room.

It felt almost voyeuristic. Qin Yu, worldly in matters of life, wasn’t particularly shocked or bothered by this.

However, as whispers rippled through the audience, Qin Yu watched the two young men on screen kissing passionately, reluctant to part. He began to experience some peculiar feelings.

He shifted his gaze from the screen, inadvertently focusing elsewhere.

Damn, what a coincidence. As Qin Yu’s eyes wandered, he caught sight of a couple in the row ahead, eagerly kissing. They seemed to be deliberately following the rhythm of the on-screen action. To Qin Yu, their technique appeared even more natural and intense than the actors’.

Sure enough, it seemed one could truly spot their own kind at a glance.

Qin Yu observed them for quite some time. Only when the kissing scene ended and the shot changed did he snap out of his reverie and return his attention to the screen.

By now, the couple had finished their kiss and were once again enjoying the film together.

Qin Yu glanced over, suddenly struck by a thought. He felt an uncomfortable sensation of being watched. Turning to look beside him, he found Xie Cen gazing at him thoughtfully in the darkness.

He must have been watching for a while to wear such an expression.

Qin Yu didn’t think it was a big deal. After all, now that he was in this theater, what was there that he couldn’t see?

The two men held each other’s gaze in the darkness for a long moment. Perhaps due to the dim lighting, Qin Yu couldn’t quite discern what emotions lurked in the other’s eyes.

Qin Yu looked away again.

Just as he was about to refocus on the plot, hushed murmurs arose from the seats behind.

“Why aren’t they kissing?”

“Maybe they just met recently.”

“But they’ve been gazing at each other for so long, it’s so ambiguous! (Excited)”

“Shh, keep it down.”

“This couple seems more reserved. The couple in front is quite open though.”

Although these whisperers tried their best to keep their voices low, every word reached Qin Yu’s ears clear as day.

Not to mention Xie Cen – Qin Yu knew firsthand that his hearing was exceptionally good.

Haha, as long as they didn’t acknowledge it, they could pretend it never happened.

Qin Yu refocused on the film. About an hour later, it finally reached its most thrilling moment.

The intimate scene between the two male leads began.

Was there anything more awkward than watching a gay love scene with your supposed online dating match whom you’d only met a few times?

But on second thought, Qin Yu realized something was amiss. If he showed discomfort now, he might end up in a passive position. Before the other could make a move, he had to act first and seize the high ground.

On screen, the two were now licking each other fervently, their slick tongues seeking to moisten every inch of skin.

Seizing the opportune moment, Qin Yu immediately pulled out his phone, thoughtfully dimming the brightness to avoid disturbing others.

With one notable exception.

Qin Yu tapped on a certain someone’s WeChat avatar of someone petting a cat. The chat showed only the message from over an hour ago that they’d become friends, nothing else.

Deftly, Qin Yu opened his gallery and sent over a photo taken during a model shoot several days prior.

It was that revealing shot – barely clothed below the waist, muscles exposed above, nearly nude. A striking, elegant waist chain adorned his hips, its links trailing along his muscle lines downward, finally disappearing beneath the thin fabric covering his lower body. The image exuded sensuality from every angle, sparking the imagination.

Sent successfully.

Qin Yu smiled slyly, feigning nonchalance as he darkened his screen and pocketed his phone.

A soft vibration sounded from Xie Cen beside him – a message notification.

Xie Cen tore his gaze from the screen, glancing at the seemingly proper Qin Yu beside him. Seeming to realize something, he pulled out his phone and unlocked it.

[Here’s that ab pic I owe you (smirk)]
[(Image)]

Curious about the other’s reaction, Qin Yu tried to sneak a peek. He saw Xie Cen quickly save the image, then repeatedly zoom in and out with his thumb and forefinger.

He was certainly examining it closely, though Xie Cen’s actions gave Qin Yu a sense of being peeped at.

Perhaps finding Xie Cen’s reaction uninteresting, Qin Yu observed quietly for a moment before refocusing on the two young men undressing each other on screen.

Bit skinny, not a trace of ab muscle. Kids these days should eat more and not be all skin and bones. They’re growing, they need to eat well.

Qin Yu’s thoughts wandered inappropriately. While others likely focused on the boys resolving their misunderstanding and exploring life’s truths, Qin Yu had moved on to concerns about the actors’ physical health.

In the darkness, a long-fingered hand crept onto his forearm, fingers deftly tracing along his sleeve. Finally, that slightly cold palm grasped his wrist, nimble fingers slipping between Qin Yu’s loosely curled ones. In an instant, Xie Cen unexpectedly exerted force, intertwining their fingers in the dark. The rising warmth of their palms heralded the kindling of the ambiguous atmosphere between them.
