Chapter 14: The Annoying Koala

Ning Guiqu wore a thin short-sleeved pajama, his exposed skin pressed against Lu Yuan’s body. Lu Yuan’s nose was filled with Ning Guiqu’s scent, which was slightly different from the smell of the bedding.

Both scents were quite pleasant.

Lu Yuan only needed to lower his gaze to see Ning Guiqu curled up in his arms. Ning Guiqu looked up at that moment, his eyes sincere as he said, “Just think of it as sleeping with a good brother. See, even Shi Wen doesn’t find it strange.”

Lu Yuan immediately averted his gaze.

Perhaps due to being in Lu Yuan’s embrace, Ning Guiqu also felt shy and nervous. His face was flushed pink, a delicate blend of white and rose, reminiscent of a peach. He looked quite attractive, especially with those beautiful eyes of his.

His voice was soft, and Lu Yuan found himself wondering what it would sound like if that mouth were to utter profanities.

Realizing what he was thinking, Lu Yuan stiffened. His heart began to race irregularly once more. What was he thinking? He must have mistaken Ning Guiqu for a girl!

“Stop moving,” Lu Yuan warned in a low voice.

Ning Guiqu moved anyway, reaching behind his back as if to scratch an itch. He whispered, “My back suddenly itches. I’ll stop moving after I scratch it.”

Lu Yuan thought Ning Guiqu was being rather troublesome.

“What are you two whispering about?” Li Mu asked from below, his heart already beginning to break. “Xiao Qu, I remember you dislike physical contact with others the most. Don’t force yourself!”

Xiao Qu’s response only served to break Li Mu’s heart further. “I’m not forcing myself. That’s only with other people. Lu Yuan is my… good roommate. He’s an exception.”

Due to Shi Wen’s presence in the dorm, Ning Guiqu replaced “boyfriend” with “good roommate.” But Li Mu could still hear it.

Shi Wen, who had been watching this unfold, was truly confused.

He felt that Li Mu was unusually interested in Ning Guiqu and Lu Yuan sleeping together. Li Mu had been anxiously pacing beneath their bed. What a strange situation.

Shi Wen decided to ask Ning Guiqu about it tomorrow, not now. With Li Mu still present, he felt that Li Mu was the one who truly seemed emotionally unstable.

As Shi Wen pondered this, Ning Guiqu noticed through the dim light of the dorm lamp that Lu Yuan’s expression didn’t look good. When his hand accidentally brushed against Lu Yuan’s, he felt that Lu Yuan’s hand was clenched into a fist.

Ning Guiqu swallowed.

Lu Yuan’s hearing was particularly sensitive at that moment. “What were you just doing?”

Ning Guiqu replied innocently, “Nothing. It’s just…”

He tapped Lu Yuan’s fist with the back of his hand and whispered, “Why are you clenching your fist? Do you want to hit me?”

Lu Yuan: ” …”

The fist he had clenched due to nervousness immediately relaxed.

Ning Guiqu felt it again with his fingers. The fist was gone. He sighed in relief, “Lu Yuan, I’m not good at taking hits. How about I buy you a punching bag? That way, you can release your excess energy. Even though you have an extra… well, I know it’s a condition. I don’t blame you!”

Lu Yuan took a deep breath and hissed through gritted teeth, “I really appreciate your concern. No need for a punching bag. I can control my emotions! Go to sleep now and stop talking.”

Ning Guiqu obediently replied with a soft “Oh.”

However, before Ning Guiqu closed his eyes, he heard a strange sound. Since he was sleeping on the inside, he sat up to look at Li Mu’s position. Li Mu had moved to Jiang Xu’s spot, with a book on his lap, which he was forcefully pounding.

Ning Guiqu: ” …….”

He felt a bit of pity, as he wasn’t the original owner of this body. Thinking about it now, could the original have had feelings for Li Mu, allowing the annoying Li Mu to stay close for so long?

Ning Guiqu suddenly felt a chill. Unlike the original, he truly had no feelings for Li Mu whatsoever. In fact, his recent speculation made him feel sick to his stomach.

“Ning Guiqu, how long are you going to prop yourself up like that?”

Lu Yuan’s deep voice brought Ning Guiqu back to reality.

Then—

Ning Guiqu realized he was actually propping himself up on Lu Yuan’s chest to look at Li Mu.

Ning Guiqu guiltily glanced at Lu Yuan, who showed no expression. “Don’t explain. Just lie back down.”

Ning Guiqu obediently lay down and settled in. He hugged Lu Yuan’s arm and closed his eyes, really not intending to explain anymore. Mainly because Ning Guiqu didn’t know how to explain; he could only apologize.

But Ning Guiqu couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t that he wasn’t tired, but Lu Yuan’s breathing was right next to his ear, so close that it inexplicably made Ning Guiqu’s heart race.

After a while, Ning Guiqu still couldn’t ignore Lu Yuan’s breathing, so he softly asked, “Your breathing is a bit heavy. Are you nervous or angry?”

Lu Yuan ignored him.

Ning Guiqu promised again, “I’ll find a way to make it up to you. For now, I can only think of one thing: I’ll cover all your meals from now on! But if I run low on money, I’ll stop. I’ll start again next month because I need to eat too.”

Lu Yuan: ” …”

He opened his eyes, still wide awake. Looking at the ceiling, deliberately ignoring Ning Guiqu who was clutching his arm tightly, he said hoarsely, “You… don’t talk. I’m neither angry nor nervous.”

Ning Guiqu asked sincerely, “But I wasn’t talking before.”

Lu Yuan finally couldn’t take it anymore. If he had to cry, so be it.

“Shut up, Ning Guiqu.”

Ning Guiqu wasn’t upset and didn’t shut up. He whispered, “You should scold me more. It helps release emotions. See, your breathing isn’t as heavy now.”

Ning Guiqu seemed quite experienced.

Lu Yuan: ” …”

What kind of annoying creature was Ning Guiqu?

Lu Yuan looked down, only to find Ning Guiqu’s round eyes filled with concern for him, even a hint of determination.

The next moment, Ning Guiqu said, “Lu Yuan, go ahead and scold me. Say whatever you want! I won’t talk back.”

Lu Yuan was stunned and quickly averted his gaze again.

Forget it, he decided not to argue with this annoying person anymore. Tomorrow, he’d keep his distance from this annoying person!

“Just sleep. We have an early class tomorrow. I’ll control my breathing myself.”

Is that so?

Ning Guiqu listened again. Lu Yuan’s breathing had indeed become much steadier.

Impressive!

Ning Guiqu fell asleep quickly, while Lu Yuan remained awake until the early hours of the morning. Even after Li Mu had turned off the desk lamp and fallen asleep at his desk, Lu Yuan was still wide awake. Ning Guiqu’s sleeping posture was terrible; now, one arm and one leg were draped over Lu Yuan’s body, clinging to him like a koala. Lu Yuan’s emotions had shifted from initial nervousness to utter despair.

When Ning Guiqu first flung his arm and leg over him, Lu Yuan even suspected it might be intentional. He pinched Ning Guiqu’s nose, but the sleeping Ning Guiqu, instead of switching to mouth-breathing, swatted his hand away as if shooing a mosquito.

He must really be asleep.

Just with terrible sleeping posture.

Every time Lu Yuan removed Ning Guiqu’s arm and leg from his body, the human koala would return shortly after!

This cycle repeated until Lu Yuan was exhausted.

In the quiet dormitory where only Ning Guiqu’s faint breathing could be heard, Lu Yuan stared at the ceiling that he couldn’t see at all, with fatigue in his eyes. Tomorrow, he decided to completely distance himself from Ning Guiqu, this annoying gay koala!
