Chapter 16: Gays Are Fickle

The string of little deaths left Lu Yuan genuinely worried about Ning Guiqu’s mental state. So this matter remained unresolved?

The first message indicated Li Mu would suddenly come over. If he agreed to Ning Guiqu’s request, it meant he and Ning Guiqu would need to sleep together before Li Mu’s sneak attack. Lu Yuan’s brow furrowed tightly.

He opened the chat window labeled “Uncle Liu” and typed out a message, then deleted it. In a society governed by law, one couldn’t act recklessly.

As always, Lu Yuan bought a small bowl of rice porridge.

He glanced at the pancake window. Ning Guiqu had just arrived, standing at the back of the line with his head lowered, looking dejected.

Lu Yuan’s heart softened. This was the ten-thousandth time he felt he was too kind-hearted! His kindness had already stretched beyond reasonable boundaries. Ning Guiqu already had feelings for him, yet here he was, still helping him. He should have let Shi Wen handle this from the beginning.

But when Lu Yuan imagined Shi Wen sleeping with Ning Guiqu, Shi Wen being embraced by Ning Guiqu, something felt off. He couldn’t pinpoint exactly what, but Lu Yuan realized he was treating Ning Guiqu like a girl.

Girls couldn’t sleep with boys. Except for him, of course. He had no interest in Ning Guiqu.

Lu Yuan waited outside the cafeteria for a while until he saw Ning Guiqu, who had bought his pancake and was now absent-mindedly nibbling on it.

“Ning Guiqu,” Lu Yuan called out. Only then did Ning Guiqu turn his head.

It was Lu Yuan!

Ning Guiqu’s eyes reddened again.

Lu Yuan walked alongside Ning Guiqu towards the teaching building. Ning Guiqu silently ate his pancake without saying a word. Lu Yuan broke the silence, “Is there anything you want to tell me?”

Ning Guiqu looked up, glancing at Lu Yuan.

He shook his head, but this time his eyes seemed to glisten with moisture. Lu Yuan, who had been observing Ning Guiqu closely, grew truly concerned.

Lu Yuan chose his words carefully, “If the situation with Li Mu hasn’t been resolved, I can help you. There’s no need to trouble yourself over him. His behavior is clearly disturbing you now.”

Ning Guiqu didn’t know how to be more assertive. He had never encountered such a thick-skinned pursuer from childhood to now.

He had scolded and yelled, but it was all useless. Besides, Li Mu was at most just being a bit immoral. He was still the original body’s childhood friend.

Ning Guiqu looked up, his eyes full of hope. “How can you resolve it?”

Lu Yuan said something completely out of character. “We could have someone beat him up. Once he’s been taught a lesson, he’ll behave.”

Ning Guiqu felt that wasn’t right.

He lowered his head, holding the pancake without appetite. “We grew up together. He’s annoying, sure, but he hasn’t really done anything. He never bothered me on WeChat before, just messaged me once every few days to say hello. Actually, he was ready to give up last night, but only because…”

Ning Guiqu pressed his lips together.

He was being treated like a pushover.

“Forget it, I’ll just admit it to him directly. I’ll think of a way to make him give up on me.”

Lu Yuan felt that the overly mild-mannered Ning Guiqu might not come up with a good solution, unless he negotiated with Li Mu in the same manner he was venting on his alt account.

But that seemed unlikely.

Lu Yuan said, “If you need my help, I’ll agree.”

Ning Guiqu finally spoke softly, “You won’t agree.”

“How do you know I won’t agree if you don’t ask?” Lu Yuan questioned.

Ning Guiqu pressed his lips together, then took another bite of his pancake. When they reached a stone statue, he stopped.

Lu Yuan halted as well, his dark eyes scrutinizing Ning Guiqu.

Ning Guiqu lowered his head and relayed what Li Mu had told him that morning, his voice filled with sadness. “Li Mu said there’s no love in your eyes when you look at me, so he still plans to do a surprise inspection at night. If he discovers our relationship isn’t working, he’ll… you know. So we’d have to sleep together continuously until his surprise inspection is over. But we don’t know when he’ll raid us. Lu Yuan, I can’t trouble you anymore. You said it was the last time. This time, I’ll resolve it myself.”

As he finished speaking, Ning Guiqu felt tears welling up in his eyes. Sure enough, they fell the next moment, and he furtively wiped them away.

Lu Yuan was puzzled.

You know?

What did that mean?

Lu Yuan knew there was a phrase “hei hei xiu xiu1When NGQ said “he’ll… you know” he used the term, 嘿嘿 hei hei. The term 嘿嘿咻咻 is hei hei xiu xiu, hei xiu meant sexual intercourse.,” which was quite vulgar. Could Li Mu be thinking of…??

Lu Yuan was shocked. Li Mu actually said such things to Ning Guiqu’s face??

He looked at Ning Guiqu again. With his fair skin and delicate, small face, such lewd remarks seemed completely at odds with him.

Moreover, Lu Yuan noticed Ning Guiqu’s eyes darting left and right sneakily, quickly wiping his eyes with his sleeve.

Was he crying?

Lu Yuan’s heart softened again. “Don’t cry. I said it was the last time, but how do you know I’d refuse you?”

Ning Guiqu stiffened, looked up innocently, and said, “I’m not crying!”

He was so upset yet still acting cute, the tears in his eyes had not been wiped dry yet. But Lu Yuan didn’t intend to force Ning Guiqu to admit it.

Before Lu Yuan could speak, Ning Guiqu’s pupils dilated slightly, his voice stuttering with disbelief, “Then you… you’re… helping me?”

Lu Yuan felt uncomfortable too.

He really felt he was getting too close to Ning Guiqu now. But that idiot Li Mu still wanted to… you know.

With Ning Guiqu’s gentle temperament, if he tried to resolve this himself, he might end up being taken advantage of.

It was just sleeping together again, wasn’t it? One night of sleep, two nights, three nights – it was all the same. He’d consider it an act of kindness.

Helping someone meant seeing it through to the end.

Lu Yuan grunted in agreement, “I’ll continue to help you. But you must promise me one thing.”

Ning Guiqu nodded eagerly, following Lu Yuan into the teaching building. Now, he felt more spirited to eat his pancake.

“I’ll promise you anything. I’ll agree to everything.”

Lu Yuan didn’t really have anything for Ning Guiqu to do, only one thing he needed Ning Guiqu to agree to.

He had seen Ning Guiqu’s “offering himself” message on his alt account. That was completely unnecessary!

Lu Yuan remained silent for a moment, considering his words, then spoke softly, “Don’t fall for me. Even if you do, keep it to yourself. Don’t say it out loud.”

Ning Guiqu thought Lu Yuan was overthinking it.

He replied seriously, “Actually, you’re considered quite a catch among us gays. But I see you as a good friend and roommate. Besides, for some reason, I always feel like liking you would end badly.”

In fact, Ning Guiqu felt a vague sense of aversion, as if Lu Yuan had hurt the original owner of the body before. But that couldn’t be. It was probably just Lu Yuan’s cold personality, being indifferent to the original owner.

Just like how he treated him at first.

They reached the elevator, surrounded by students waiting for it.

Lu Yuan, unwilling to discuss this in front of so many people, said, “Remember what you said. It’s best that way.”

Ning Guiqu nodded vigorously!

Back in the classroom, Ning Guiqu had completely returned to normal, his eyes no longer red. He even cautiously asked Lu Yuan in a low voice, “After troubling you so much, will you still let me join your company when you start one?”

Lu Yuan: “…”

Lu Yuan wanted to say no.

But Ning Guiqu was fragile and prone to crying.

Lu Yuan: “We’ll talk about it when I actually start one. If I do, I’ll let you join.”

Ning Guiqu’s eyes lit up.

Lu Yuan’s phone started flashing incessantly again.

He glanced at Ning Guiqu, who was still tapping away at his screen. Lu Yuan watched Ning Guiqu’s rants in real-time.

[Wow wow wow wow wow! I’ll never call Lu Yuan an idiot again!]
[Why are there such good people like Lu Yuan in this world?]
[Lu Yuan is handsome and tall. Not sure if he’s rich, but he’ll be wealthy when he starts his company! He’s kind, smart, basically perfect in every way!]
[I love that cold penguin so much!]

Lu Yuan’s ears reddened from the praise. He waited a few seconds, and another message appeared.

[Genius Xiao Qu suddenly remembered something. If Lu Yuan is so great, why doesn’t the protagonist shou like him?]

Lu Yuan again saw Ning Guiqu mention the protagonist shou, referring to Xu Zhi.

Lu Yuan still didn’t understand. Why did Ning Guiqu call Xu Zhi the protagonist shou? The protagonist gong surely wasn’t Ning Guiqu, as Ning Guiqu liked him. Besides, with Ning Guiqu’s thin arms and legs and tendency to cry, he couldn’t be a gong, could he?

Soon, Ning Guiqu posted another message.

[Is the protagonist gong really more outstanding and handsome than Lu Yuan? I really want to see for myself!]
[Lustful cat.jpg]

At this point, Lu Yuan was certain that Ning Guiqu wasn’t the protagonist gong. Ning Guiqu wanted to see for himself. As everyone knew, gong and shou were a pair, so if Xu Zhi was the protagonist shou, wouldn’t Song Huai be the protagonist gong?

Could it be Song Huai?

And that “lustful cat” comment.

Lu Yuan glanced at Ning Guiqu, who was still holding his phone, seemingly searching for something.

“Guiqu, come register for the sports meet,” the class monitor said, tapping Ning Guiqu’s shoulder. Ning Guiqu looked up and refused, “I’m not participating.”

The monitor insisted, “There are extra credits. You’ve participated in too few activities.”

Ning Guiqu was displeased internally.

How had he participated in too few?

But he maintained his polite exterior, “What about Lu Yuan?”

He felt Lu Yuan didn’t seem like someone who’d participate in credit-adding activities either.

The monitor explained, “Lu Yuan has his tech innovation project, which adds more points. You only have a walking activity, which added just 0.2 points. Even if you get a participation award at the sports meet, you’ll still earn a few points.”

Ning Guiqu: “……”

Stupid credits!

Ning Guiqu went to register.

But he left his phone behind, and in his haste, the screen was still lit.

Lu Yuan glanced at Ning Guiqu’s seat and finally couldn’t resist looking at the phone.

[Our Business School has handsome guys, too! Super handsome Song Huai, with high-resolution photos attached]

Lu Yuan: “……”

Huh.

As expected.

Gays are all fickle.

Lu Yuan looked away. Protagonist gong and protagonist shou. So Ning Guiqu knew about Xu Zhi and Song Huai being together? Knowing all this, he really paid attention to the people around him.

Then, in the next moment, Lu Yuan’s expression darkened. Since he knew, why was he now searching for high-resolution photos of Song Huai?

Ning Guiqu wasn’t just fickle; he had no morals.
