Chapter 49: Xiao Qu’s Revenge Plan 2.0 Upgraded Version

“Ningning, bring back a bottle of soy sauce when you go out.”

“Got it.”

“Ningning, Daddy’s taking you out for a treat. Don’t tell your mom, okay?”

“What if she finds out?”

Ning Guiqu’s memories gradually blurred.

“It’s our fault for not raising you properly. Are you scared in there, Ningning?”

“I’m sorry.”

Through the glass, the man with bangs covering his eyes muttered to himself. With a “bang,” the young man lying on the bed suddenly opened his eyes. His head throbbed with pain as unfamiliar memories flooded his mind like a kaleidoscope.

An ordinary high school graduation, followed by an equally ordinary college graduation. After that, he landed a job at a promising up-and-coming company. There, he met someone who made his heart skip a beat, a man.

The man already had a partner.

Then, inexplicably, he began a series of underhanded and malicious schemes, successfully causing a rift between the couple. However, the man he liked was good at explaining things and quickly reconciled with his partner. Moreover, the man discovered all of his shady little actions, not only firing him but also blacklisting him in the industry, preventing him from working at any internet-related company.

In the end, he snapped and stabbed someone.

The young man was stunned.

What an idiot, he thought. Liking men was one thing, but to do such foolish things just because he couldn’t be the third party? Was that really him?

As he lay in bed, the young man recalled the plot that filled his mind. He noticed something strange about the content after his imprisonment. He shouldn’t have known his own perspective, yet he could see the man he liked marrying another man.

His vision gradually pulled away.

A novel was closed, its cover reading “My Childhood Friend is an Idiot” – Wild Idiot Gong x Gentle Stubborn Shou.

[This winter, join the editor in anticipating the beautiful childhood love story of Song Huai and Xu Zhi]

The young man on the bed sat up abruptly, hitting his head hard.

The bedroom door opened.

“Ningning, we’re not cooking tonight. Get ready to go out for dinner, okay?” A beautiful woman with a gentle voice stood at the door. It was his mother.

Ning Guiqu snapped back to reality and responded with a simple “Oh.”

He was Ning Guiqu.

He was also the Ning Guiqu from the novel.

He was the third party trying to interfere with the novel’s main characters. No, he couldn’t be called a third party since he didn’t succeed. As someone who opposed the protagonist, he should be considered a villain, right?

Though the memories flooding his mind were chaotic, the 17-year-old Ning Guiqu was skeptical about the painful future he saw. Even if he were truly a character in a novel, being a villain sounded cool, but he was clearly just cannon fodder. So, whether it was real or not, he just needed to be wary of this person called Song Huai.

Despite his caution, he didn’t take it too seriously at first.

When Ning Guiqu learned that there really was someone named Song Huai in their school, and that he was friends with Lu Yuan from their class, and that Song Huai even had a young love interest named Xu Zhi, he started to take it seriously! His half-belief turned into full confirmation.

He, Ning Guiqu, was indeed a character in the book! He was the villain! He had awakened as the cannon fodder!

Yes, despite having a bright future ahead, he did such stupid things for a man. Clearly, the author treated him as an NPC without consciousness. If he didn’t wake up, who would?

Moreover, it was too disjointed!

In the book, before he appeared, he had been a positive young man who loved life. Though he occasionally criticized those who deserved it, his values were generally upright. But as soon as he became a major character in the book, he turned into an inexplicably idiotic person with a broken personality.

But fortunately, he was no longer an NPC to be manipulated!

Song Huai, the protagonist gong, wasn’t even that good-looking. He wasn’t as handsome as Lu Yuan from their class. But if it weren’t for Lu Yuan, he wouldn’t have known about Song Huai! Damn it, as their classmate, he was actually friends with the protagonist gong who caused him to go to prison! What a traitor!

Ning Guiqu ground his teeth and began to observe Lu Yuan secretly. He observed secretly, then more secretly, and even more secretly.

He observed and observed…

He fell for him.

Lu Yuan was so handsome!

[I like you. Can we date?]

[No.]

Ning Guiqu pouted.

What a tasteless man!

Ning Guiqu continued to observe in the dark, observe more, and observe even more.

He observed and observed…

His heart fluttered again!

[The moonlight is beautiful tonight. Would you like to appreciate it with me?]

[No.]

Ning Guiqu persisted, [The moon looks really nice tonight!]

He got blocked…

What a tasteless man!

“Why hasn’t he woken up yet?”

“I like you. Stay away from me.”

Two voices spoke simultaneously. Both belonged to the same person, but the former sounded more anxious, ringing in his ears. The latter sounded colder, echoing in his mind.

Ning Guiqu slowly opened his eyes to see a stark white ceiling.

“Look, he’s awake. Xiao Ning, are you feeling any discomfort?” A middle-aged doctor asked kindly as he came into view.

Ning Guiqu shook his head and closed his eyes again. Everything was so confusing. Wasn’t he in the midst of dark revenge? Murmuring voices gradually faded in the background.

“Ning Guiqu, does your head still hurt?”

After a moment, a gentle, deep voice made Ning Guiqu open his eyes again.

Ning Guiqu blinked. It was Lu Yuan. Such a gentle Lu Yuan.

Ning Guiqu’s eyes darted around. As he faced Lu Yuan, his gaze suddenly became evasive. He even turned away, his back to Lu Yuan, his voice muffled, “Didn’t you tell me to stay away from you? If so, don’t care about me like this.”

With a bang, Lu Yuan’s mind went blank.

After a while, Lu Yuan asked in disbelief, “Ning Guiqu, you… don’t remember?” His voice trembled slightly.

Ning Guiqu maintained his position, his voice flat yet tinged with confusion, “What should I remember? Thank you for bringing me to the hospital.”

Lu Yuan stared intently at the back of Ning Guiqu’s head, clenching his fists. He took a deep breath, trying to remain calm as he asked, “Why are you in the hospital?”

Ning Guiqu replied, “I fell while walking and hit my head. I remember returning to the dorm. Did I faint there? Thank you for bringing me to the hospital.”

Lu Yuan’s expression darkened. The worst-case scenario happened.

Ning Guiqu forgot his recent memories, only recalling the hurtful memories from before he hit his head. So, in Ning Guiqu’s mind, he was still someone to be revenged against.

But it shouldn’t be like this!

How could Ning Guiqu forget?

“Ning Guiqu, actually we—” Lu Yuan began anxiously, but Ning Guiqu quickly interrupted him.

Ning Guiqu suddenly covered his face with the blanket. “I need to rest. My head still hurts a bit.”

Lu Yuan opened his mouth, but the words he wanted to say remained unspoken. He kept his voice soft, afraid of startling Ning Guiqu. “Alright. What do you want to eat tonight?”

A hesitant voice came from under the covers.

“You’re still willing to buy food for me?”

Lu Yuan’s heart felt as if it had been pierced by ten thousand needles. He had truly been too cruel to Ning Guiqu before!

Lu Yuan left heavily.

Ning Guiqu listened to the fading footsteps. After the door closed again, he waited for a moment before suddenly throwing off the blanket. His eyes showed no sadness; instead, he could barely suppress a smile.

While planning his revenge in the dark, he suddenly tripped and injured his head. His desire for revenge had been so strong that he had immediately immersed himself in the revenge plan. As a result, the plan was executed in a mess, but he managed to bring Lu Yuan home!

Hmph!

As expected of Genius Xiao Qu!

So Xiao Qu’s revenge plan had succeeded after all. The only regret was that Lu Yuan had seen his QQ account. Since his alt account had been exposed, it was time to pay the price! Xiao Qu’s revenge plan 2.0 could now be launched.

Ning Guiqu lay on the bed smugly, contemplating how to begin. Making Lu Yuan sad was a bit mean, but what could he do? He was the dark Ning Guiqu, after all.

It was Lu Yuan’s fault for not liking the dark Genius Xiao Qu!

As Ning Guiqu was lost in thought, Lu Yuan returned with food. He bought a light rice porridge. Ning Guiqu couldn’t eat anything heavy now. This would do to fill his stomach!

Ning Guiqu politely said, “Thank you.” Lu Yuan’s face darkened further, and he remained silent.

After Ning Guiqu finished the porridge, Lu Yuan cleaned up. Then he sat on the bed, staring at Ning Guiqu.

Ning Guiqu almost smiled under Lu Yuan’s gaze. Because he remembered everything!

Ning Guiqu turned his head, avoiding Lu Yuan’s gaze.

Lu Yuan finally spoke, “Ning Guiqu, actually, we’ve been dating recently.”

Ning Guiqu continued to play dumb, using Xiao Qu’s signature sarcastic tone. “Am I terminally ill? Is that why you’re trying to deceive me with such lies?”

Lu Yuan’s heart clenched.

“No, we really were dating. It’s November now. You’ve lost two months of memories.” Lu Yuan thought that even if Ning Guiqu couldn’t remember this period, he should at least know about their relationship.

Ning Guiqu covered his head with the blanket again!

He was about to laugh out loud! He really remembered everything!! He didn’t lose anything!

Lu Yuan continued, “If you don’t believe me, you can check our WeChat conversations.”

Ning Guiqu couldn’t help it and laughed out loud.

Ning Guiqu: “…….” Oh no.

Lu Yuan sighed, “It’s true, Ning Guiqu. I’m not lying to you.”

Ning Guiqu sighed in relief. Lu Yuan didn’t think much of it. He probably assumed he was mocking him. Thank goodness, thank goodness!

Ning Guiqu coughed lightly, his voice muffled as it came from under the blanket.

“Is that so? Did you like the me from that period? I guess the old me wasn’t good enough.”

Ning Guiqu’s words stabbed Lu Yuan’s heart.

“How could you not be good enough? You’ve always been you.”

Ning Guiqu remained silent.

Lu Yuan felt even more guilty and changed the subject. “Do you still think you’ve transmigrated into a novel?”

Ning Guiqu pretended to be confused. “Why do you ask that?”

To avoid complications, Ning Guiqu didn’t admit to being an awakened cannon fodder character. Lu Yuan wouldn’t believe he had transmigrated anyway, and Ning Guiqu didn’t want to prove he was some awakened cannon fodder. If he explained too much, he might say something he shouldn’t, and someone as smart as Lu Yuan would easily find holes in his story. So, he’d just let Lu Yuan think he had been going through a chuunibyou phase.

The hospital room was quiet for a while.

Finally, Ning Guiqu heard Lu Yuan mutter softly, “Ning Guiqu, so you’ve recovered, but you’ve forgotten me.”

Ning Guiqu felt a pang in his heart.

He suddenly threw off the blanket and stared directly at Lu Yuan, saying more wickedly, “I haven’t forgotten you. You said you wanted me to stay away from you.”

Lu Yuan: “…….”
