Chapter 51: Discovering the Evil Xiao Qu

Ning Guiqu recently began sneakily playing with his phone behind Lu Yuan’s back. He stopped inviting Lu Yuan to play games or eat meals together. In short, whenever he had free time, he clung to his phone, tapping away.

He was probably messaging someone.

As this realization dawned on Lu Yuan, tumultuous waves surged within his heart. Who could Ning Guiqu be messaging? Li Mu? That childhood friend? Lu Yuan had never considered Li Mu a threat before since he was someone Ning Guiqu disliked extremely. But what if Li Mu wasn’t bothering Ning Guiqu anymore? Would he still be disliked?

Whenever Lu Yuan tried to peek at what Ning Guiqu was typing, Ning Guiqu would swiftly turn off his screen. When Lu Yuan inquired about whom he was chatting with, Ning Guiqu would rest his chin on his hand, adopting a lazy, punchable expression, and reply, “It’s none of your business, is it?”

Lu Yuan: “……”

Lu Yuan practically squeezed the words through his teeth, “Even if you don’t remember, what happened, happened. I’m your boyfriend.”

Ning Guiqu dismissively said, “So what? I don’t remember that, and besides, you must hate how I am now, right?”

Lu Yuan wasn’t in the mood to argue about whether he hated Ning Guiqu or not.

“So, are you cheating on me now?”

Ning Guiqu replied frankly, “Cheating on whom? I have high moral standards!”

Lu Yuan was on the verge of losing his mind. This righteous attitude clearly showed that Ning Guiqu didn’t consider him as a boyfriend at all!

Lu Yuan’s eyes darkened, jealousy burning fiercely within them. When he spoke, he had completely lost his reason, thoughtlessly threatening Ning Guiqu, “I once said that if you dared to cheat, I’d lock you up.”

Ning Guiqu stopped resting his chin on his hand. Lu Yuan had never said such a thing!

Ning Guiqu turned his head towards Lu Yuan in disbelief. Lu Yuan, who initially felt he shouldn’t have said those words in his moment of irrationality, became even more resolute in his stance upon seeing the beautiful Ning Guiqu. He threatened again, “You’d better behave yourself.”

Ning Guiqu: !!!!

Shock filled Ning Guiqu’s eyes. He wanted to say, “You never said that,” but how could he, a person who couldn’t remember this period, know what Lu Yuan had or hadn’t said?

After a long, tense, and silent standoff between them, Ning Guiqu could only acknowledge this nonexistent incident and attempted to refute it based on his current situation. “That was him, not me! You’re threatening the wrong person!”

Lu Yuan replied, completely indifferent, “If you insist on making that distinction, then I’ll lock both of you up.”

Ning Guiqu sharply inhaled. Lu Yuan had turned dark. Being essentially a coward, Ning Guiqu meekly said, “I’m not cheating. There’s no affair.”

Lu Yuan continued to stare at him coldly, seemingly unsatisfied with this answer.

Ning Guiqu had no choice but to timidly add, “Although I don’t remember what happened after hitting my head, I liked you even before that. I couldn’t possibly like anyone else.”

It must be said that Ning Guiqu really knew how to appease Lu Yuan. With just one sentence, Lu Yuan’s cold aura dissipated, and he stopped staring at Ning Guiqu like a hungry wolf.

His crisis was averted!

However, this was his 3.0 jealousy version of the revenge plan! According to his plan, shouldn’t Lu Yuan have been heartbroken? How did it escalate to Lu Yuan wanting to lock him up? In the end, Ning Guiqu could only conclude that the 3.0 jealousy version of the revenge plan wasn’t suitable for dark-minded individuals. Lu Yuan was too dark, even darker than Genius Xiao Qu.

No wonder Lu Yuan liked him. Lu Yuan himself was also a dark-minded person. This must be the attraction between two dark souls.

With the crisis averted, Ning Guiqu no longer had the heart to pretend he was messaging anyone. He decided to stick to his 2.0 version; blindly upgrading would only make things worse. As long as he didn’t expose or admit that he had regained his memories, everything would be fine.

That night, Ning Guiqu wanted to sleep with Lu Yuan again after a long time.

For the past few days, to implement his 3.0 jealousy version of the revenge plan, he had driven Lu Yuan away. Now that he had given up on it, Ning Guiqu made up an excuse to call Lu Yuan over.

Lu Yuan didn’t come.

Ning Guiqu: “…”

Lu Yuan lay on his own bed with his eyes closed.

Well, forget it. Today was special, after all. Ning Guiqu didn’t dare say anything to make Lu Yuan feel guilty. He played games by himself for a while before going to sleep.

At three in the morning

Lu Yuan opened his eyes, not feeling sleepy at all. The dormitory was completely quiet; Lu Yuan could even hear Ning Guiqu and Shi Wen’s breathing. Ning Guiqu’s breathing was steady.

Since he hadn’t gone over tonight, Ning Guiqu’s phone was carelessly placed on the wall shelf.

Lu Yuan quietly went over and took the phone. He then went to the balcony.

The cool breeze of the early morning blew, making Lu Yuan even more clearheaded. After unlocking Ning Guiqu’s phone, he showed no signs of guilt. Lu Yuan expertly opened Ning Guiqu’s WeChat.

He didn’t see Li Mu, but he saw Shi Wen, Jiang Xu, and their class monitor. However, Lu Yuan didn’t pay much attention to them because he also saw himself. His current WeChat account was saved in Ning Guiqu’s contacts as: “Stupid Penguin”

His other account from high school, which Ning Guiqu used as a trash bin, was saved as: “Super Stupid Penguin”

Lu Yuan fell silent.

Was he a fool in Ning Guiqu’s eyes? Being considered a fool by another fool… Lu Yuan pondered.

Lu Yuan then intended to check Ning Guiqu’s real alt account. But Ning Guiqu’s own alt account wasn’t on the WeChat message page. Lu Yuan didn’t believe that someone with Ning Guiqu’s personality wouldn’t vent at least a little. Later, Lu Yuan stopped looking at the content of Ning Guiqu’s alt account, wanting to give Ning Guiqu some privacy. After all, Ning Guiqu only liked him.

Taking advantage of Ning Guiqu’s deep sleep, Lu Yuan logged out of Ning Guiqu’s current WeChat on the balcony and logged into Ning Guiqu’s alt account. After logging in, the WeChat avatar belonging to Ning Guiqu’s alt account kept increasing in unread message count.

Lu Yuan’s lips twitched slightly. As expected, Ning Guiqu was very cautious. Lu Yuan opened it and scrolled through expressionlessly.

[Hahahahaha I really am a genius!!!]
[Lu Yuan is the stupidest penguin ever. Since he doesn’t know I remember this time, he might as well be my slave!]

Lu Yuan’s dark eyes showed no surprise, instead revealing an expression of “as expected.”

He continued reading:

[I’ll make Lu Yuan run an errand to buy me food later]
[What a heavenly life! Although I feel a bit guilty occasionally, but! Who told the penguin to reject me! Xiao Qu’s revenge plan 2.0 is now in action.]
[3.0 is launching! Time to make him jealous to the fullest!]
[Hahahahahahaha Always looking at me, are you jealous? Are you jealous?]
[I’m chatting with my alt account, and I won’t tell you. Come on, get jealous, then ask me pitifully who I’ve been chatting with these days. Then I’ll coldly say, it’s none of your business. Hahahahahahaha Then, then! Be sad as much as you can! Feel guilty as much as you can! Be nice to me as much as you can!]
[Hahahahahahaha I’m so happy]

The screen was full of Ning Guiqu’s “hahaha,” and Lu Yuan gripped Ning Guiqu’s phone tightly, veins bulging on the back of his hand. This was… too arrogant!

[It’s so scary, why is it so scary? Version 3.0 isn’t suitable, it’s scrapped. Let’s stick to version 2.0 where Lu Yuan works like an ox and horse]
[Forget it, I’m still a bit scared when the penguin gets angry. I won’t provoke him today, but tomorrow he can continue to work for me like an ox and horse]

The alt account messages ended here.

Since Ning Guiqu’s account no longer showed unread status in the alt account’s message page after Lu Yuan opened it, Lu Yuan chose to delete all the conversation boxes on the message page, leaving a completely blank WeChat. He’d let the foolish Ning Guiqu think it was a bug.

Afterward, Lu Yuan logged out of WeChat, logged back into Ning Guiqu’s main account, and deleted the verification codes sent to both accounts. He silently returned to the dormitory and carefully placed the phone back in its original spot.

Ning Guiqu’s breathing remained steady, and so did Lu Yuan’s. Perhaps after reaching a certain level, even getting angry seemed too good for Ning Guiqu.

Lu Yuan lay back on his own bed, not feeling sleepy at all. He wasn’t surprised at all that Ning Guiqu was faking memory loss, because he had always believed Ning Guiqu was capable of such things. Moreover, Ning Guiqu had been obviously acting quite despicable lately, but Lu Yuan had thought, “If I suspect Ning Guiqu of faking memory loss again, it would be too pitiful for him.” So even though Ning Guiqu was behaving strangely, he still didn’t want to think too much about it.

So, he really should have thought more about it. And he really shouldn’t have felt guilty towards Ning Guiqu. Ning Guiqu himself was overjoyed. Lu Yuan could almost see his countless “hahahahaha” appearing triumphantly before him.

So, Ning Guiqu deliberately said those things to make him worry and feel guilty, which was really excessive. Making him jealous, making him sad, making him feel guilty, all just to make Lu Yuan work for him like an ox and horse. Although Lu Yuan didn’t feel like he had been working like an ox and horse during this time, he was just taking care of his boyfriend.

But Ning Guiqu treated him like a beast of burden.

Lu Yuan closed his eyes. His boyfriend was indeed too much, to the point where he had lost even the emotion of “anger.” However, even so, he still wanted to give Ning Guiqu one last chance. After all, he had once really rejected Ning Guiqu without mercy. This would be his last time feeling guilty. If Ning Guiqu didn’t seize this opportunity, then he would have nothing to feel guilty about anymore.

The next day, there was still an early class, and Ning Guiqu was woken up by his Lu Yuan alarm clock. Since he was discharged from the hospital, Lu Yuan had always been the one to wake him up. Ning Guiqu was happy to let Lu Yuan wake him.

“Wake up, Ning Guiqu.”

The low, pleasant voice sounded in his ear, and as he opened his eyes, he saw the incredibly gentle Lu Yuan. Ning Guiqu was delighted; today, Lu Yuan had returned to normal, and he could properly torment Lu Yuan again!

Now, even squeezing toothpaste was something Lu Yuan did for Ning Guiqu. Although Ning Guiqu couldn’t accept such things before, now, as long as he could order Lu Yuan around, there was nothing he couldn’t accept!

Even Shi Wen privately messaged him, asking if he had some of Lu Yuan’s weaknesses in his hands.

Of course not!

It was guilt from Lu Yuan!

Ning Guiqu mysteriously replied: [Xiao Shi, it’s a secret]

Shi Wen became even more convinced that Lu Yuan had some weakness in Ning Guiqu’s hands, and earnestly advised Ning Guiqu: [We’re all roommates, you shouldn’t use someone’s weakness to threaten another roommate. Aren’t you good friends now? Xiao Qu, if you keep going like this, when Lu Yuan no longer cares about his weakness one day, you’ll be in big trouble!]

Ning Guiqu didn’t take it to heart at all. How could he be in big trouble? He was Genius Xiao Qu! As long as he didn’t admit that he had memories after hitting his head, Lu Yuan would never know! He had even been cautious enough to delete the chat boxes when he vented on his alt account.

After Ning Guiqu finished washing up, Lu Yuan called him to the balcony, saying he had something to tell him.

Ning Guiqu raised an eyebrow, leaned against the balcony, and listened attentively.

Lu Yuan’s eyes showed guilt, and Ning Guiqu was so pleased he could barely control his smile. Ning Guiqu coughed lightly and chose to turn his back to Lu Yuan. Because he was afraid of laughing, he could only squeeze out two words, “Go ahead.”

The guilt in Lu Yuan’s eyes disappeared. He stared at the back of Ning Guiqu’s head and deliberately lowered his voice, saying, “I was indeed too harsh on you before. I’m very upset, even to the point of wanting to jump into the river. Ning Guiqu, can you forgive the once heartless me a little bit?”

Ning Guiqu’s pupils dilated where Lu Yuan couldn’t see. Had Lu Yuan become so upset that he was saying things that broke his character? But Lu Yuan didn’t seem like the type to jump into a river. Was he trying to sound pitiful?

He, Genius Xiao Qu, wouldn’t fall for this trick.

Ning Guiqu said gloomily, “He might forgive you, but I won’t. Not even a little bit.”

“Is that so?” came a faint reply.

Ning Guiqu sensed something was off. He turned around again, and the Lu Yuan in front of him had slightly curved eyes, his dark pupils containing an emotion he couldn’t understand. His lips twitched as he said softly, “Then there’s no helping it.”

Ning Guiqu: ???

Ning Guiqu instinctively felt a hint of unease and alertly asked, “What do you mean?”

Lu Yuan reached out and rubbed his head, changing the subject, “It’s time for class.”
