Chapter 46: Dual Film Kings (END)

Tang Yu rewatched the video clip meticulously, muttering to herself, “So this is where the contract originated. That brat Jiang Lin did not give me a clear explanation and caught me off guard.”

Just then, her phone lit up with an incoming call from Yan Yi.

Tang Yu answered, “Yan Yi.”

Yan Yi remained silent for a moment before sighing.

Puzzled, Tang Yu asked, “What’s wrong?”

Yan Yi replied, “We could have brushed it off as rehearsing, but your response practically confirmed their relationship.”

Tang Yu paused, “Uh, I didn’t think it through… Should I tell the director to take the fall for adding extra scenes?”

Yan Yi said, “That’s too obvious. Never mind, it doesn’t seem like they’re particularly intent on keeping it secret. Carry on with your work. Just avoid directly addressing their relationship. I’ll contact Mr. Qi to see what Xingyi’s plans are.”

Tang Yu agreed and hung up. After pondering for a moment, she sent Jiang Lin a WeChat message.

[Tang Yu: I think I accidentally leaked your big news…]

Jiang Lin replied quickly.

[Jiang Lin: It’s fine, I just told Yan-jie we’re planning to go public anyway.]

Relieved, Tang Yu returned to her work.

After finishing his call and replying to messages, Jiang Lin returned to the study.

Li Qianxing was busy at the spacious computer desk, surrounded by three large monitors.

Jiang Lin approached from behind, resting his hands on the chair back and leaning in to look at the screens. “How is it? Can we use that scene we just shot?”

Li Qianxing, skillfully working the keyboard and mouse, replied, “Yes, it’s clear. Just needs some color correction to match.”

He glanced at Jiang Lin. “Grab a chair if you want to watch.”

Jiang Lin leaned in, nuzzling Li Qianxing’s cheek before straightening up to fetch a chair.

Li Qianxing let out a soft hiss, addressing Jiang Lin’s retreating figure, “Go shave.”

Jiang Lin chuckled, “I shaved this morning.”

Li Qianxing retorted, “That was over ten hours ago. Don’t kiss me unless you shave. It’s prickly.”

Jiang Lin shook his head in resignation and went to the bathroom to shave. Upon returning, he placed a chair next to Li Qianxing, alternating between scrolling on his phone and glancing at the screens.

Wearing a single earbud, he rewatched the video posted by the gossip account and tapped the screen. “Quite the wedding gift. But how did they manage to record audio from such a close range without us noticing?”

Li Qianxing had already considered this and replied directly, “The camera was positioned to my left front, your right side. There’s a large fake rock there, with a messy cloth draped behind it. I suspect someone was hiding behind the cloth, just extending the camera around the rock.”

Jiang Lin tried to recall but only had a vague impression. “They sold it to a gossip account rather than fans, so it’s probably not a professional paparazzo. Might be someone from the crew who was slacking off there and got lucky when we chose that spot.”

Li Qianxing said, “It doesn’t matter. Our relationship hasn’t been a secret in the industry for a year now.”

While chatting casually with Jiang Lin, he finished editing and exported the short clip. He then pushed away from the desk, sliding his chair aside. “Take another look. If it’s good, we can post it.”

Jiang Lin moved his chair to the center, clicked play, and chuckled, “We posted one last New Year, and now another this year. Maybe we should make it a tradition to share a little clip thanking fans every New Year.”

Li Qianxing replied, “Sure, you’re the one writing them anyway.”

Just then, Qi Jingnian called. Li Qianxing answered, “Ge.”

Qi Jingnian said, “Both companies’ PR departments are ready. Who’s posting and when?”

Li Qianxing, looking at Jiang Lin’s profile as he watched the video, smiled unconsciously, “Right now. Jiang Lin will post it.”

Qi Jingnian sighed on the other end, “Your public announcement will surely trigger another wave of viewership. The extended screening period for ‘Xuanji: Transformation’ is practically guaranteed. I’m tempted to ask Guangya for promotional fees.”

Sitting close to Li Qianxing, Jiang Lin overheard and chuckled softly, taking Li Qianxing’s free hand.

Li Qianxing squeezed back, continuing the call, “You could promote that TV series too, make use of the traffic.”

Qi Jingnian asked, “You’ve decided?”

Li Qianxing: “Yes.”

Qi Jingnian: “Alright, I’ll have it prepared immediately.”

After Li Qianxing hung up, Jiang Lin finished checking the newly edited clip and opened his Weibo account.

Both his private messages and comments showed 99+ in red, but Jiang Lin ignored them, directly uploading the video and hitting publish.

Those gathering on Jiang Lin’s Weibo to repost, comment, and question weren’t mainly fans, but curious netizens whose interest had been piqued.

The 99CP fans, having received big news from Tang Yu, were stunned at first, but many soon caught on.

Though laid-back, these fans were active on Weibo and savvy enough to sense they shouldn’t probe further. They quickly toned down their reactions, retreating to their Weibo groups to discuss.

[So basically, we’re sure that scene was just them playing around.]
[I’ve been walking around my room! Even if they were playing, that kiss was so intense. It must be real, right?]
[Shh—if they haven’t gone public, let’s pretend we don’t know.]
[It’s hard to say. They’ve played lovers before. ‘Reunion’ had such intense scenes, maybe they’re just desensitized to kissing?]
[They’re tough enough to accept a staged divorce on a variety show without batting an eye.]
[As a CP fan, I hope they’re real. But as a long-time fan of Qianxing, I know that with his level of professionalism, even if he’s just playing around, he’ll act according to the character as long as he’s in a scene.]

Suddenly, everyone received a notification that Jiang Lin had posted on Weibo, and they rushed to check it out.

Jiang Lin didn’t explain the rehearsal video, but instead posted a new video.

CP fans nervously clicked to watch.

The video started with a static noise, followed by an old-style black-and-white countdown with snow-like interference.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1—

The scene faded in and out as music began to play, revealing a small theater stage.

Li Qianxing, without makeup but in costume, was performing a water sleeve dance on stage. The long sleeves twirled and fluttered with his fluid movements, sometimes retracting, sometimes extending. His lone figure seemed to fill the entire small stage.

As he finished, the camera zoomed out to show Jiang Lin in the audience, standing up to applaud.

Li Qianxing gathered his sleeves and gracefully walked to the stage steps. Jiang Lin was already waiting there, offering his hand to help him down.

They walked to a table with chairs. Jiang Lin poured tea from a pot into two cups, handing one to Li Qianxing.

Li Qianxing accepted with a smile. Jiang Lin took the other cup, and they slowly sipped their tea together.

The scene faded to black.

[Is this… the characters from the variety show?]
[Boss Li and Young Master Jiang! Qianxing still remembers the water sleeve dance he practiced before, it’s so beautiful.]
[But Lin-ge’s demeanor and actions are so different from the show, he seems so upright.]
[He must have regained his identity, he’s wearing our side’s clothes.]
[So it’s a sequel to Boss Li and Young Master Jiang! They’ve returned safely and are together!]

The screen brightened again, this time showing an office.

Only one workstation was lit, with Li Qianxing in police uniform typing rapidly at a computer.

The camera panned around him, catching a glimpse of another workstation where someone else in police uniform was sleeping on the desk.

After a moment, Li Qianxing stopped typing and used the mouse to shut down the computer. He stood up, stretching his shoulders as he walked to the other workstation, bending down to gently pat the sleeping person.

Jiang Lin woke up, lifting his head and squinting, his bangs pressed into an odd shape.

He blinked, coming to his senses, and said something. His lip movements suggested he was asking, “Can we go now?”

Li Qianxing nodded, casually fixing Jiang Lin’s hair before turning back to his own desk to ensure the computer was off and reaching for his bag.

However, before the strap touched his shoulder, Jiang Lin, who had followed him, grabbed it and slung it over his own shoulder.

Jiang Lin then leaned in, kissing Li Qianxing on the cheek.

Li Qianxing pushed him away, pressing a hand to his forehead.

Jiang Lin chuckled, draping an arm over Li Qianxing’s shoulders as they walked out together.

The lights went off, and the screen faded to black.

[These are also characters from the variety show! The two police officers from the third scene.]
[Working overtime, it feels like a glimpse into the daily life of office workers.]
[But Qianxing has company. As a single person working overtime, I feel deeply hurt ToT.]
[It’s not over yet, what’s the next scene?]

The screen brightened again, showing a dining room connected to an open kitchen.

Li Qianxing and Jiang Lin brought dishes from the glass counter, set the table, and sat down to eat. The atmosphere was relaxed, with the two chatting and laughing, occasionally picking up food for each other.

[As expected, it’s them in real life.]
[The atmosphere is completely different from the meal in the variety show. This must be how they usually eat together.]
[But they were husbands in the variety show, are they here too?]
[Are there rings? Can’t see clearly without a close-up.]

The screen faded to black once more, then brightened.

The camera showed a table with two small red books, their covers clearly marked “Marriage Certificate.”

Then, two hands wearing matching rings on their ring fingers came into view, opening the certificates.

The certificate holders were indeed Li Qianxing and Jiang Lin, with their joint photo attached. The registration date was today.

The image froze, and a line of text appeared in the center:

“The joy of dating a film king—you can’t imagine~”

[Fuck! They’re married? Is this a prop or real?!]
[Ahhh! Was that really them I saw today?!]
[What, what? Please explain in detail!]
[I work at the Civil Affairs Bureau. This morning, I saw two people going to the special processing floor, wearing glasses and masks. They looked a lot like them! I even mumbled about it!]

At that moment, Li Qianxing reposted Jiang Lin’s video:

[@Li Qianxing V: Today is our wedding anniversary. //@Jiang Lin V: …]

Soon after, #Dual Film Kings Li Qianxing and Jiang Lin Announce Marriage# topped the trending list.

*

After posting on Weibo, Jiang Lin and Li Qianxing didn’t pay much attention to it. The companies would monitor public opinion, so they didn’t need to worry.

In the video they just posted, only the final scene with the marriage certificates was newly filmed. The other three segments were short clips shot over the past year.

After last year’s “after-sales service” for fans, Jiang Lin got playful and created some follow-ups for the three couples from the variety show. They rented a studio and filmed them themselves when they had time.

They hadn’t planned to release these, but then the improvised continuation of “Xuan Ji: Transformation” was leaked.

Coincidentally, they had just registered their marriage today. Jiang Lin was happy and thought they might as well give fans a big treat, so he discussed this idea with Li Qianxing.

After dropping the bombshell online, they followed their original plan, watched a comedy together, and prepared to rest.

Jiang Lin, fresh from his shower, sat up in bed, scrolling through his phone.

He first checked the comments under Li Qianxing’s Weibo post, finding normal congratulatory messages like “Congratulations on your marriage,” “Wishing you a century of good companionship,” and “99 forever.”

Switching to his own Weibo, he found the top comments dominated by CP fans in full shipping mode.

[“The joy of dating a film king” is being able to play many different CPs and experience various kinds of love, right?]

[I now believe that Liu Nanyue and He Jing’s scene was your own creation. Please add more romantic scenes in the sequel. More kissing! We love it!]

[Last year’s “Reunion” after-sales service was also your improvisation, right? You must have gotten together then and were vacationing at a hot spring inn! Tsk tsk.]

[I think we should collect character ideas for 99, so they’ll never run out of CPs to play.]

[Great idea, I’ll start! Domineering CEO Lin-ge X Elite Assistant Qianxing.]

[Here’s another. School bully cool guy Lin-ge X School heartthrob cool guy Qianxing.]

[Younger green tea puppy Lin-ge X Gentle fishing beauty Qianxing. Feels like they’d be well-matched. Wearing a boyfriend shirt at home, Lin-ge definitely couldn’t resist.]

[Super flirty, jealous, wife-protecting Alpha Lin-ge X Reserved in public, wild in bed Omega Qianxing!]

Jiang Lin was enjoying reading the fans’ character ideas when he heard Li Qianxing’s footsteps returning from the shower. He looked up, still smiling.

But in the next second, he froze.

Li Qianxing’s hair was still wet, and he was tilting his head to dry it with a towel. He was wearing only a loose-fitting double-breasted shirt—precisely Jiang Lin’s dark red training suit embroidered with golden peonies.

His naturally fair skin, contrasted against the dark red, made his long legs seem to glow.

Jiang Lin stared at him, feeling his heartbeat quicken with each step Li Qianxing took closer. The words “fishing beauty” and “boyfriend shirt” from the fan comments kept spinning in his mind.

Li Qianxing walked past the foot of the bed, casually tossing the towel onto the bench, then sat down next to Jiang Lin.

“Help me dry my hair.”

Jiang Lin snapped back to reality, put down his phone, and sat up straight. He grabbed the hairdryer he’d left by the bed earlier, plugged it in, and turned it on.

Li Qianxing’s hair was soft. Jiang Lin ran one hand through it while moving the dryer with the other.

However, his gaze couldn’t help but wander down past Li Qianxing’s shoulders.

Seemingly oblivious, Li Qianxing reached for Jiang Lin’s phone. “What were you looking at just now? You were smiling so happily.”

But before Jiang Lin could answer, he saw the long list of CP character ideas on the screen.

Li Qianxing raised an eyebrow. “Now we won’t lack for ideas, though it’s a pity we can’t film the parts they most want to see.”

Jiang Lin coughed lightly. “We could film short character scenes.”

After chatting for a bit, Li Qianxing’s hair was dry.

Jiang Lin casually put down the dryer and unplugged it. Before Li Qianxing could get up, he grabbed his shoulders.

Li Qianxing felt himself being pulled back. He naturally turned to the side, lifting his legs onto the bed.

Jiang Lin sat beside him, one hand propped next to Li Qianxing’s face, looking down at his slightly disheveled clothes.

“What made you decide to wear this…”

Li Qianxing met Jiang Lin’s gaze without answering. His eyes slowly trailed down Jiang Lin’s face to his chest and abdomen visible through the slightly open robe.

He raised both hands, grasping Jiang Lin’s robe belt, and slowly untied it.

Jiang Lin’s gaze followed, feeling as if Li Qianxing wasn’t just undoing the belt, but unraveling his last thread of self-control.

Li Qianxing finally untied the simple knot, pulled out the belt, and tossed it aside.

Jiang Lin felt a coolness around his waist, a shiver running from Li Qianxing’s touch up to his head.

Li Qianxing’s hands traced up Jiang Lin’s taut muscles, finally resting on his shoulders.

He looked back into Jiang Lin’s eyes and said softly, “Happy wedding night, Teacher Jiang.”

Jiang Lin took a slight breath and leaned down. “Happy wedding night, my Teacher Li.”

As he finished speaking, their lips met.

Jiang Lin gazed into Li Qianxing’s eyes from an extremely close distance, passion swirling in his pupils.

“Are you ready? I’m going to go crazy for you.”

Li Qianxing’s eyes sparkled, the corners of his lips curling up slightly.

“Come on, let’s lose control together.”

(The End)

Raine: AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! IT’S DONE!!!! Huhu I love them so much. But I’m kind of happy there are no extra chapters. I’m going to take a break to savor this emptiness I’m feeling now that this is completed. But I will come back with another short series. Please look forward to it.

Their roles were interesting to see. No family drama too. And just right amount of dog food.
