Xu Jiu had a sworn enemy named Chen Songyan. Both were Alphas who not only despised each other but had also pursued the same Omega.
Xu Jiu spent half a year chasing that Omega, showering them with gifts and trying to win their heart. Just when the Omega finally showed signs of interest, Chen Songyan appeared out of nowhere. All he did was offer the Omega a drink, say a few words, and pass them a note. Suddenly, the Omega was all over Chen Songyan.
Xu Jiu was angry, but he could also understand why. Chen Songyan was the cold, genius Alpha from a wealthy family, and he was good-looking too. Still, Xu Jiu felt that compared to himself, Chen Songyan fell just a little short.
The grudge of “losing his Omega” stuck, and Xu Jiu never missed a chance to give Chen Songyan trouble.
When Chen Songyan asked for homework, Xu Jiu claimed he forgot it.
When Chen Songyan needed his signature, Xu Jiu skipped class for the whole day to avoid him.
When Chen Songyan told Xu Jiu to wear his pheromone collar properly, Xu Jiu took it off and released his pheromones right in Chen Songyan’s face.
He was all about getting under Chen Songyan’s skin.
Chen Songyan would be weird not to hate him.
Xu Jiu even had a twisted hobby of drawing explicit Alpha-Omega scenes in Chen Songyan’s notebooks and stuffing his used pheromone collar into Chen Songyan’s backpack just to disgust him.
But Chen Songyan always remained indifferent, ignoring all of Xu Jiu’s attacks. He would deal with everything with a cold face, then quietly return to his books, like an emotionless machine.
Although Xu Jiu was good-looking himself, everyone gradually came to know him as a terrible person. Meanwhile, Chen Songyan remained godlike in everyone’s eyes.
During evening self-study, Xu Jiu snuck out with his friends only to run into Chen Songyan and his group catching students at the back gate.
Chen Songyan wore the school’s DK1DK stands for “danchou fuku” (団長服) in Japanese, which translates to “student council uniform.” uniform with a red armband. From Xu Jiu’s angle, he could clearly see Chen Songyan’s sharp, cold profile.
Chen Songyan was listening to someone beside him, occasionally nodding without smiling. He had an inherent air of superiority, with aristocratic features like a Western noble, standing close to 190cm tall with fair skin.
Since it was Chen Songyan, Xu Jiu naturally had to cause trouble.
When Xu Jiu’s Alpha friend saw Chen Songyan, he wanted to run away. But since Xu Jiu wanted to cause trouble for Chen Songyan, he still swaggered through the back door, dragging his friend along.
Chen Songyan naturally stopped both of them. With a cold face, he ordered Xu Jiu to return to the classroom. His eyes swept over Xu Jiu’s hand.
Chen Songyan: [Tch, so annoying.]
Xu Jiu thought it was strange. Who was talking?
Who dared to call him, Xu Jiu, annoying?
Xu Jiu glanced at his friend, but his friend showed no reaction. So Xu Jiu looked up at Chen Songyan with a puzzled expression.
Chen Songyan’s face was as stoic as ever, his eyes calm and unreadable. He repeated coldly, “Student, please return to class.”
Chen Songyan: [Why is he suddenly looking at me?]
Only then did Xu Jiu realize belatedly that he might be able to hear his rival Chen Songyan’s thoughts.
This was a gift from the heavens! From now on, he could use Chen Songyan’s inner thoughts to know his true feelings and mess with him.
Thinking about how the perfect Chen Songyan now had a weakness, Xu Jiu was overjoyed. Well, there’s no rush. He would have plenty of time to exploit this later, so he decided to head back.
Xu Jiu turned back to the classroom with a smug grin.
Chen Songyan: [Why is he being so obedient today?]
Xu Jiu found Chen Songyan’s thoughts strange. Was “obedient” a word you’d use to describe your rival?
Chen Songyan: [Is he really an Alpha? Why is his waist so slim?]
Xu Jiu looked around. Were there other Alphas here? Or did Chen Songyan have someone he liked, and these thoughts were about that person?
The next day, the teacher suddenly arranged a pop quiz. While Xu Jiu was stressing over the test paper, he suddenly heard Chen Songyan’s thoughts.
Chen Songyan: [Choose C, only an idiot would pick A]
Xu Jiu cursed under his breath, insulting Chen Songyan while erasing his A to mark C instead.
Of course, Xu Jiu wasn’t that stupid. He also changed some of Chen Songyan’s answers. But Xu Jiu hadn’t expected Chen Songyan to be that good. Even after Xu Jiu changed several correct answers to wrong ones, he still ranked among the top in class.
The teacher thought Xu Jiu was showing progress. Although he was still a bit of a delinquent, there was hope for him. So they moved Xu Jiu next to Chen Songyan, specifically asking Chen Songyan to keep him in line.
Chen Songyan remained expressionless. He lowered his eyes and nodded, gradually shifting his gaze to an impatient Xu Jiu beside him.
Chen Songyan: [Finally.]
Hearing Chen Songyan’s thoughts, Xu Jiu found it strange. What was Chen Songyan’s “finally” about? Was he finally able to get back at Xu Jiu? Now that they were sitting together, it would be easy for Chen Songyan to target him.
No wonder Chen Songyan never fought back before. He was planning something big all along.
Xu Jiu decided to strike first. He’d handle this rivalry the way Alphas were meant to. He wanted Chen Songyan to understand what it meant to be a true Alpha, a real powerhouse.
“Chen Songyan,” Xu Jiu said seriously.
Chen Songyan kept his eyes on his book, not moving his gaze an inch. “Mm.”
Xu Jiu declared solemnly, “Tomorrow at 9 PM after school, meet me at the back gate.”
Chen Songyan: [Want to hook up with me?]
Xu Jiu was scared out of his wits by Chen Songyan’s thoughts. He was challenging him to a fight! This was serious business!! He was going to beat Chen Songyan to a pulp!! What was this nasty Alpha thinking about all day?!
Xu Jiu slammed the desk and shouted at Chen Songyan, “I don’t want to hook up with you!”
In his hurry to clear things up, he forgot that only he could hear Chen Songyan’s thoughts.
When Xu Jiu finally realized his outburst and shakily sat down, the whole class was staring at him with weird looks.
Chen Songyan didn’t even lift his eyelids. His DK school uniform remained crisp as ever, still maintaining his elegant young master demeanor. His ice-cold profile showed slight signs of melting as he suppressed the corners of his mouth while turning a page of his book.
“Mm, got it,” Chen Songyan said.
Chen Songyan: [Cute.]
