As if I’d need someone like you?
The family quarters of the military base housed many Omegas, with Gu Zeyu being the only Alpha. But this didn’t stop him from blending in with them. With suppressant patches and his fluffy reindeer hat and scarf, no one believed Gu Zeyu was an Alpha.
At first, Lu Yunian completely ignored Gu Zeyu. As long as this Alpha didn’t cause trouble or wander off, spending his days eating and drinking in the family compound with a group of Omegas was the best state.
When Gu Zeyu first arrived, he was very afraid of Lu Yunian. Later, he discovered that although this person seemed cold on the outside and indifferent towards him, he never restricted him like his brothers did. Every day, Gu Zeyu listened to the Omegas praise Lu Yunian’s great achievements, and hearing so much made him feel a sense of pride that “my Omega is awesome.”
Later, complaint letters piled up like snowflakes in Lu Yunian’s military command post, with battle reports on the left and complaints on the right. In less than a week, there was no space left for the letters on the right. The burly Alphas in the troop couldn’t stand their wives coming home every day talking about another Alpha’s name, so they blocked the command post entrance, asking Lu Yunian to control his Alpha.
Lu Yunian truly didn’t know how to handle Gu Zeyu. Their marriage was officially registered in the Alliance database, and even though he despised how Gu Zeyu’s drool would wet his chest while sleeping, he had to admit that he was indeed the little Alpha’s legal partner.
Gu Zeyu slept terribly. Though he started by hugging an arm, once asleep he would cling shamelessly, wrapping around like an octopus. Lu Yunian had even tried getting up and walking around, but couldn’t shake off the little fish1小鱼 Xiao Yu which is GZY’s nickname means little fish hanging on him. He constantly wanted to use force but was afraid of hurting him fatally. After all, Gu Zeyu really looked weak and helpless.
While the Alphas were complaining to Lu Yunian, the Omegas in the family quarters weren’t idle. Mrs. Spider2蜘蛛 (zhī zhū) – spider organized a ladies’ afternoon tea, with Gu Zeyu being the only Alpha among beautiful Omegas.
The married Omegas’ chat soon went off-topic, teasing the inexperienced Alpha and forcing him to talk about his wedding night with Lu Yunian. Learning that they still hadn’t consummated their marriage, a chorus of tuts arose, with comments like, “Could it be that General Lu is impotent?”
“Nonsense, how could the Imperial War Star be impotent? It must be Xiao Yu who can’t perform!”
“You’re married now, how can you not mark him? There are many people who like General Lu. Without your mark, this marriage could be annulled anytime.” Mrs. Spider patted Xiao Yu’s shoulder worriedly, handing him a piece of mango mille-crepe cake.
“Annulment would be good. I’d go home and let Lu Yunian find another Alpha to help him,” Gu Zeyu said carelessly.
Knowing Gu Zeyu didn’t understand matters between opposite sexes, Mrs. Spider chuckled softly and said, “If you go home, who will help General Lu? An Omega’s heat can be very painful, and it happens every month. Where would he find an Alpha he likes in such a short time?”
Seeing everyone’s expectant looks, Gu Zeyu proudly puffed out his chest and said, “It’s okay. I’ll make do and help him then.”
When Lu Yunian had his deputy call Gu Zeyu, he was hugging an ugly cloth doll. Lu Yunian raised an eyebrow and asked, “Where did this thing come from?”
“Lieutenant Li’s wife made it for me. She’s a gentle spider Omega. With eight hands, she makes dolls like magic, whipping them out in no time.” Gu Zeyu offered it to Lu Yunian like a treasure, then suddenly remembered that this joyless black bear spirit had gotten rid of his truckload of dolls. He quickly hid the doll behind his back and said cautiously, “Don’t take it away. With this, I won’t need to hug you to sleep at night.”
Lu Yunian’s frown deepened. He clenched his fist to suppress the urge to throw Gu Zeyu out and said, “What exactly are you doing here? Is the military a place for you? I’ll find a car to send you back. Go hug your pile of raggedy dolls to sleep.”
Startled by his shout, Gu Zeyu’s eyes reddened again. But he gathered his courage, walked over, and hooked Lu Yunian’s pinky finger, saying, “Mrs. Spider said an Omega’s heat isn’t like an Alpha’s rut. Your frequency is high, and it can be very painful when it hits.”
“Did she not tell you there’s something called suppressants in this world? Do I need you, this…” Lu Yunian paused, swallowing the words “little waste” on his tongue.
“I know. I used to use them for my ruts too, but they often don’t work well. You had no Alpha before, so you had no choice. But now you have me, right?” Gu Zeyu seemed a bit happy. He was clearly afraid of Lu Yunian, but now, hooking his pinky and not being coldly shaken off made him feel satisfied.
He couldn’t say he liked Lu Yunian and was even a bit scared of him, but it was like a barking little dog suddenly letting him squeeze its paw. Gu Zeyu liked this feeling.
Lu Yunian snorted coldly, looking at Gu Zeyu’s rosy cheeks, jelly-like plump lips, and small round nose tip. He really couldn’t imagine how such an Alpha could help him through his fierce, tide-like heat without suppressants. He suddenly raised his hand and pinched Gu Zeyu’s chin. The smooth sensation further provoked the malice in his heart. He lowered his head and fiercely sealed Gu Zeyu’s lips and tongue, surging pheromones transferring through saliva.
Gu Zeyu had never received any Omega’s pheromones before. The gap in their levels was too great, and his weak Alpha pheromones were utterly defenseless against the counterattack. His mind exploded like fireworks, a burst of dizziness. When he came to, Lu Yunian had already released him. With a contemptuous look, he eyed the weak-kneed Gu Zeyu up and down and said, “As if I’d need someone like you?”
Gu Zeyu lowered his head and remained silent for a long while. Lu Yunian sensed something was wrong and leaned in to see large teardrops falling one by one onto the ground. His lips were half-bitten, faintly showing blood. Only then did Lu Yunian realize he had gone too far, but he was unwilling to apologize to Gu Zeyu. Watching Gu Zeyu turn and run away, he only ordered a deputy to follow and keep an eye on him.
Gu Zeyu was angry. He packed his bags, ready to run away, but was carried back by two sentries before even reaching the first checkpoint. The story of Gu Zeyu bravely exploring the minefield had spread throughout the entire army, and no one dared to let him leave the military zone alone.
Lu Yunian had never apologized to anyone and didn’t know how to comfort an Alpha. Especially now that Gu Zeyu had that ugly doll, he no longer needed to hug Lu Yunian’s arm at night. Lu Yunian felt stifled, unable to vent. He couldn’t hit or scold Gu Zeyu, and his anxiety left him sleepless all night.
This stalemate lasted for several days until alien forces attacked. As Lu Yunian donned his armor to go into battle, Gu Zeyu saw his resolute face and suddenly forgot they were still at odds. He touched Lu Yunian’s armor and said, “Pu’abal.”
Lu Yunian’s forehead beaded with sweat as he frowned and asked, “What are you doing?”
Gu Zeyu tilted his head slightly, his fair face adorned with two large eyes like black pearls, and said innocently, “I’m blessing you in my language. Ah, you don’t understand. It means ‘return safely.’”
Lu Yunian’s heart softened. The young man’s soft hair glowed in the backlight. He suddenly reached out and, in front of everyone, ruffled Gu Zeyu’s hair, grunting softly through his nose, “Fussy.”
After Lu Yunian left, Gu Zeyu found himself bored in the military and quickly found a new amusement. His new friend was an elephant Alpha, the head of the cooking squad. He wore a tall chef’s hat on his trunk to prevent sneezing into the wok while cooking.
The elephant Alpha had never seen an Omega with such weak pheromones. At first, he thought Gu Zeyu was a Beta. He curled his trunk and tossed Gu Zeyu into the air twice, unable to discern his true form.
“Don’t toss, don’t toss, I’m dizzy. My true form is a fish, a little swimming fish,” Gu Zeyu said, his legs shaking as he stood on the ground. He weakly leaned on the squad leader’s extended trunk to rest, lifting his legs slightly to mimic a fish tail lying on the ground.
“You’re really fun. I never imagined General Lu would marry an Alpha like you,” the squad leader said, handing Gu Zeyu a ladle. He meant no harm by this, and Gu Zeyu didn’t think too deeply about it. He took the ladle, picked up a bucket, and headed to the pig trough in the cooking squad’s backyard.
Gu Zeyu leaned on the railing, scooping pig feed. A dozen piglets rushed to him, competing for food. The elephant squad leader, seeing his carefree demeanor, came over to chat. “I heard it’s a sea tribe invasion this time. They’re looking for their king or something. Tens of thousands of troops have come. Aren’t you worried about your Omega?”
“Is Lu Yunian that impressive?” Gu Zeyu asked with a smile, tapping the railing with his ladle.
“If he’s not impressive, who is? He’s an Omega, but who would believe it? His combat power is at a level where he could destroy a world.”
“Is Lu Yunian better than many Alphas?” Gu Zeyu leaned down to stroke a piglet’s bristles and curled its long tail.
“Better than 99% of Alphas, I’d say. The 1% is just to be objective.”
“Then why should I worry about him? My Omega is the Empire’s best General. He’ll definitely return safely.” Gu Zeyu clapped his hands, picked up the empty bucket, and started to leave. Suddenly remembering something, he pointed at the piglets and said, “Your pig feed ratio is wrong. This will result in pigs that are 30% lean and 70% fat. The protein balance is off.”
