When Lu Yunian arrived, Gu Zeyu had nearly annihilated all the black bat ghosts. The Alpha stood motionless atop the waves, his domineering aura making the Omega breathless. They were far apart, with the water cradle gently bobbing on the waves at Gu Zeyu’s feet. Lu Yunian sighed deeply at those deep blue eyes and called out to the hovering Gu Zeyu, “Stop this nonsense. Come down.”
Kun leisurely walked along the wave crests, his voice rippling with the water to Lu Yunian’s ears. “Lu Yunian, do you know why you’re different from other Omegas?”
“Crazy as you are, don’t torment Gu Lulu. Come down quickly,” Lu Yunian frowned, extremely impatient with Gu Zeyu’s chuunibyou behavior.
“The twelve children of the Gu family possess my twelve abilities, yet not one became a general.” His feathery lashes fluttered, thin lips parting to speak words that sounded ethereal and resonant. “Because I bestowed the gift of ‘military prowess’ upon a crybaby little Omega.”
“You have a strand of my divine consciousness, yet remain so weak. You’re truly wasting my gift.” Kun drifted down, gently lifting Lu Yunian to his level. Seeing the Omega move to grab the child, he parted the waves to create distance and said slowly, “How could such a weak Omega protect a god’s child?”
“Cut the crap. That’s my child. I gave birth to him after carrying him for ten months. What god’s child? He’s mine and Gu Zeyu’s,” Lu Yunian finally lost patience. In his mind, the person before him was nothing like his adorable little Alpha. That guy should be lying in bed, clinging to him like an octopus, not running out in the middle of the night without even wrapping the baby in a blanket.
“Gu Zeyu once gave you two divine blessings. Pu Abal, may the god bless you with peace.” Kun lost patience with his rudeness, flipping his palm to push the Omega back to the ground. Maintaining his lofty position, he arrogantly said, “With the Ghost Legion’s reappearance, without a god’s blessing, you could die at any moment in the next great war. Unless you beg me…”
“Cowards afraid of death don’t become soldiers. If I die, so be it. I don’t need your blessing. Before your blessing, I survived hundreds, thousands of battles on my own.” Lu Yunian took advantage of his distraction, leaping onto the wave crests in a few bounds, reaching for the water cradle. “Can’t you just go back to sleep? Gu Zeyu, come out. It’s just sleeping in separate rooms, can’t you tell me directly if you’re angry? Calling out this nuisance to back you up, are you still a man?”
Kun gave him no more chance to rant. He encased Lu Yunian in a water barrier and, under his furious gaze, picked up the baby and rode the waves further away. Lu Yunian’s curses were blocked by the water, and Kun never looked back, leaving resolutely.
When Gu Zeyu woke up, he found himself in an undersea palace. Beside him stood a beautiful Omega with golden hair, who knelt upon seeing him awake and respectfully greeted, “Ancient God, I am your loyal servant, Hai Mu’er.”
He stared blankly at the aqua-blue shell palace, lying on a bed covered with soft seaweed. Suddenly, he sat up nervously and asked, “Where’s Gu Lulu?”
Hai Mu’er’s expression changed, hesitating before saying, “The young prince has been crying constantly. As you were in deep sleep, I sent seahorse Omegas to care for him, but…”
Gu Zeyu hurriedly got out of bed, rushing out before realizing he was unfamiliar with the place. He returned, mustering the courage to grab Hai Mu’er’s arm, pleading, “Take me to see Gu Lulu. Where have you locked him up? Lu Yunian will be angry if he knows.”
Noticing Gu Zeyu’s unusual demeanor, Hai Mu’er weighed his options and ordered subordinates to bring the child to the main hall. Gu Zeyu, no longer caring about his inability to hold a baby, rushed over to embrace Gu Lulu, releasing weak comforting pheromones. Seeing the child cry incessantly, he, too, began to tear up.
Hai Mu’er was deeply shocked but maintained a calm exterior. He summoned subordinates, gave a few orders, and had the Sea King merman Alpha brought from his shell prison.
As Hai Yu entered, he was still cursing, “Hai Mu’er, you bastard! Disrespectful brat, stealing love without conscience. If you’ve got the guts, don’t keep me locked up. Let’s compete fairly for Dr. Pei.”
Upon seeing the flustered Gu Zeyu and the wailing baby, Hai Yu forgot his old and new grudges with his nephew. He blurted out in panic, “What’s going on? Why did you kidnap Lu Yunian’s husband and child? He’ll massacre the sea clan. Quickly return them!”
Hai Mu’er couldn’t explain how Gu Zeyu had arrived parting seas and treading waves, much less why he was subservient to this constantly crying Alpha. He summoned the seahorse Omega attending the young prince and asked patiently amidst the crying, “Why has he been crying for so long?”
The gentle seahorse Omega, beloved by all sea clan offspring, had never before failed to soothe a baby. Looking at the baby hiccupping sadly in his Alpha father’s arms, face drooping and constantly tearing up, he said compassionately, “He should be fed. This child is too picky. He refused to drink the milk we gave him. He has a stubborn temper.”
Hearing this, Gu Zeyu rushed out with the child. Hai Yu grabbed his wrist, urgently asking, “Where are you going?”
“To find Lu Yunian. Gu Lulu is hungry,” Gu Zeyu had completely forgotten his heartbreak from yesterday. Just one sleep had dissipated all his sadness and disappointment. “I won’t fight with him anymore. The baby is so young, how can he be away from his father?”
“You’re too weak-willed. You’ve barely been away from home for half a day. Besides, you can’t make it back in time now. We’re tens of thousands of miles from Lu Yunian’s camp,” Hai Yu glanced at the baby, whose cries were softening in Gu Zeyu’s arms, and patted his head. “Since big brother has come to seek refuge with me in the sea clan, I’ll definitely take care of you and my little nephew. First, coax him to drink milk. He’s cried himself weak.”
Gu Zeyu took the bottle and cradled the baby as he had seen the Beta do. The baby whimpered a few times before finally latching onto the nipple and swallowing a few mouthfuls. But seemingly realizing the milk tasted different, he spat it out disdainfully and fell asleep with a pouty face, whimpering.
By the second feeding time, Gu Lulu still ate very little. Desperate, Gu Zeyu had no choice but to awaken Kun, who had fallen into dormancy due to his depleted divine power. After half a day’s sleep, Kun’s divine consciousness had recovered slightly. Seeing Gu Zeyu sitting on a reef crying with the child in his arms, his deep blue eyes gleamed coldly as he casually replied.
“Then, let’s capture that Omega and keep him here until the child is weaned.”
Author’s Note: At its core, I still intend to write a sweet story.
