Lu Yunian had been away for nearly two weeks, and meetings with his commanders lasted until 11 p.m. He replaced the previous beta caretaker with an auntie, and also told Gu Zeyu to only hold the baby under her supervision.
On his way home, he stopped by the canteen, where the elephant chef prepared fragrant egg tarts with blue and white flags – sure to please Gu Zeyu.
When the Omega entered, Gu Lulu was already asleep in the nursery. Gu Zeyu was curled up on the sofa with his pillow, dozing while watching TV. His head nearly touched his chest, but he jerked awake at Lu Yunian’s footsteps, leaping to wrap his legs around the Omega’s waist.
“Lu Yunian!” Gu Zeyu yawned widely, eyes teary with sleepiness but voice excited.
“Next time, don’t wait up past ten. Meetings can run late,” the Omega said, carrying the Alpha to the sofa. He squeezed Gu Zeyu’s bottom, adding, “I meant to say this in the sea realm – what have they been feeding you? You’ve gained weight.”
Gu Zeyu’s eyes widened. He pinched his waist, finding a layer of fat. Alarmed, he jumped down to find a mirror. Seeing his larger frame, he returned dejectedly, muttering, “I’ve gotten fat. I need to diet.”
Lu Yunian pulled him back into his arms, opened the egg tarts, and fed him. “Eat up. You need energy to lose weight,” he said domineeringly.
Gu Zeyu initially refused, but Lu Yunian easily pried open his mouth. After half a tart, the Alpha’s resolve crumbled. Between bites, he said, “I think… I’ve grown taller too… I can reach your shoulder now…”
Lu Yunian set him down to compare heights. His bronze skin contrasted sharply with Gu Zeyu’s snow-white complexion. Though Gu Zeyu had gained weight, his arms still looked like reeds next to Lu Yunian’s bulging biceps.
Measuring with his hand, Lu Yunian said, “You have grown. On our wedding day, you only reached my chest.”
“Lu Yunian…” Gu Zeyu said softly at the mention of their wedding, face pressed against the Omega’s chest. “If we could go back in time, I wouldn’t let my brothers force you to marry me.”
Lu Yunian tilted Gu Zeyu’s chin up, kissing him deeply. After a passionate exchange, he held Gu Zeyu tight and said, “If we could go back, I’d take that wedding seriously.”
“Actually…” Gu Zeyu hesitated before confessing, “Our marriage was arranged by the Kun… I was so afraid of you at first…”
“And now?” Lu Yunian, already aware of this from Gu Zeyu’s brothers, teased his shy Alpha.
“Now, I love Lu Yunian the most,” Gu Zeyu said shyly, his milk-scented pheromones sweetening. The Omega’s eyes lit up at this confession. “I love our son too, and want to have many more little fish with you.”
Lu Yunian kissed him again, carrying him upstairs. Between kisses, he replied, “Once the war’s over, we’ll have eight or ten!”
Pei Xiuran soon brought news from the winged clan. Their leader, Tian Yulan, agreed to the three-way alliance but wanted to meet the winged god Gu Zeyu at the Interstellar Alliance first. Pei Xiuran relayed Hai Mu’er’s message, “Either bring out the Kun god or let Gu Zeyu sit in the high seat without saying a word. The winged clan isn’t like me; they don’t care about alliance treaties.”
Confused, Gu Zeyu got Pei Xiuran to explain. “He means others aren’t big fools like him. Without divine power backing us, the winged clan might back out anytime.”
Gu Zeyu fretted, “Maybe I should let the Kun out. He’s rested for days; he should be able to wake for half a day.”
Lu Yunian took Gu Zeyu’s hand, saying firmly, “Let that madman conserve his strength. We’ll need him in battle later. You sit far from them, remember not to speak or smile stupidly.”
Surprisingly, Sea King Hai Yu arrived with the winged clan leader, carrying himself with regal air behind the tall, imposing Tian Yulan.
Gu Zeyu sat in the inner room, remembering Lu Yunian’s instructions to stay silent and expressionless. He even closed his eyes if he couldn’t maintain the act.
Tian Yulan and Hai Yu sat on opposite sides. Hai Yu, warned by Hai Mu’er, was too scared to greet Gu Zeyu, who looked imposing. Lu Yunian outlined the Ghost Legion’s movements and proposed a joint land-sea-air strategy. Hai Yu agreed for the sea clan, but the winged clan remained silent.
Tian Yulan was beautiful, with waist-length golden hair and large, glass-bead eyes in a small face. Most impressive were his three-meter white wings, giving him a divine aura that rivaled the silent Gu Zeyu’s.
“Does the winged clan leader object to this plan?” Lu Yunian asked coldly, his Omega presence dominating the room.
“Though the Ghost Legion raids everywhere, they’ve harmed the winged clan least. While protecting the ancient god is our shared duty…” Tian Yulan straightened, looking directly at Gu Zeyu. “How can General Lu prove this is truly the ancient god?”
Gu Zeyu, nervous, nearly spoke but was silenced by Lu Yunian’s glance. The Omega turned, revealing his gland to show the Kun Peng’s unique permanent mark.
“Can another such mark be found in this world?” Lu Yunian didn’t find showing his gland shameful but covered it quickly after stunning Tian Yulan, hiding Gu Zeyu’s mark with his collar.
Tian Yulan stared at the Omega, finally saying, “Indeed. Only General Lu is worthy to be the god’s Omega.”
