Song Yan still couldn’t bear to let Bai Yucheng help with anything. Seeing him with his swollen belly and pale complexion, he had no intention of letting him do any work.
Hurriedly tidying up, Song Yan rushed out. “Don’t be silly. You need to rest now.”
“I…”
“Yucheng, be good.”
Bai Yucheng nodded, obediently returning to curl up on the sofa while Song Yan continued cleaning in the bathroom.
He thought of Song Yan’s actions and expressions earlier, feeling another pang in his heart.
At first, he thought Song Yan’s interest was just a passing fancy, but he persisted so earnestly, and his family had been truly wonderful. Bai Yucheng caressed his belly, saying softly, “It seems you’ll be born into a good place.”
A while later, Song Yan came out and immediately noticed Bai Yucheng tenderly stroking his stomach. His face softened considerably as he walked over and sat beside Bai Yucheng, placing his palm on the belly as well.
“I’ll ask the hospital again tomorrow. You haven’t been looking well these past few days.”
Bai Yucheng responded quietly, grasping Song Yan’s hand in return.
The next day, Song Yan personally inquired at the hospital about the progress of the external cultivation. He confirmed that the surgery could be performed in five days, after which the babies would be cultivated for five or six months depending on their condition, ensuring their normal growth.
Upon Song Yan’s return, the whole family mobilized to arrange for Bai Yucheng’s hospitalization. Cheng Tian pulled Bai Yucheng aside to discuss important matters. Since they were the same gender, she understood certain aspects better.
The external cultivation surgery wouldn’t take long, and recovery would be quick due to their gender advantage. However, a week of hospital observation was still necessary. She secretly advised Bai Yucheng to take full advantage of Song Yan during this time.
The five days passed quickly. Bai Yucheng was admitted to the hospital for surgery, feeling somewhat nervous despite the presence of his family. It was his first time undergoing surgery. Song Yan desperately wanted to accompany him, but the operating room wasn’t a place one could enter at will.
The family waited outside the operating room for over two hours before the doctor emerged to inform them that Bai Yucheng had given birth to a set of boy-girl twins, which was a cause for celebration. Shortly after, Bai Yucheng was wheeled out on a hospital bed, his eyes closed and face still pale.
“It’s alright, let him rest,” Cheng Tian said, noticing her son’s anxiety and quickly moving to reassure him. “We should be prepared, though. Some people have stronger reactions to anesthesia. Nausea and incision pain are normal.”
“Mm,” Song Yan nodded, still visibly worried despite their preparations of vomit bags and a private room for Bai Yucheng and their family.
Lin Mei and Bai Li could see that Song Yan was dependable with the children, which slightly eased their concerns. After settling Bai Yucheng in his room, Cheng Tian suggested everyone else go home to rest, leaving just her and Song Yan. As an Omega like Bai Yucheng, she was best suited to stay.
She warned that some Omegas might experience Alpha rejection symptoms, so Song Yan needed to be cautious.
“All these precautions are in the handbook. You should read it carefully,” Cheng Tian reminded her son. “When Yucheng wakes up, we’ll use suppressants first. I’ll handle it.”
Song Yan nodded, “Alright.”
“Why don’t you go check on the babies? Don’t stand here looking so tense. Too much stress isn’t good.”
Her experience made her familiar with the situation.
Song Yan’s brow remained furrowed, but it relaxed slightly upon seeing the two children in the incubators.
Watching the growing infants, Song Yan found it miraculous. They had been inside Bai Yucheng’s belly before. He unconsciously touched his own stomach—such a small space to house two children.
No wonder Bai Yucheng looked pale and shaky these past months. He must have endured so much.
After spending a while there, Song Yan returned to Bai Yucheng’s room. He had already woken up, and Cheng Tian had already administered suppressants. Yet his complexion remained poor.
“I…”
Cheng Tian held his hand, “The incision must hurt. I’ve called for the doctor. A little painkiller injection will help considerably.”
Bai Yucheng nodded, “Mm.”
Song Yan approached, taking his hand and stroking his hair. He said softly, “Yucheng, I just saw the children. They’re boy-girl twins. They are really cute.”
Seeing Song Yan, Bai Yucheng’s nose tingled, and tears fell. “Mm…”
“Thank you for your hard work.” Song Yan gently kissed his forehead, feeling the fine sweat there.
Soon after, the doctor arrived and administered the injection, significantly reducing the pain. However, it left Bai Yucheng feeling dizzy.
Cheng Tian wiped his sweat, smiling, “Rest a bit more. This injection will make you sleepy. Remember to call us if you feel nauseous later.”
“Mm… Thank you, Mom…”
“Such a good child. You’ve worked hard.” Her hand was soft, her movements gentle.
Song Yan also said quietly, “Mom, thank you.”
“Oh, you two… There’s nothing to thank me for. Call Mama Lin later, okay? Don’t let her worry too much. She must be feeling upset that she can’t be by her son’s side due to her gender.”
He nodded, “I understand.”
“And your father, too. Tell Grandpa and Grandma not to worry. They’ll want to come, but they can’t see the babies now. Explain it clearly.”
He smiled, “Mom, you’ve never been this fussy before.”
Cheng Tian pouted, “Well, I’m responsible for everything now. Of course, I have to arrange it all properly.”
Watching the two of them, Song Yan felt truly fortunate and blessed. He never imagined the process of marriage and having children would happen so quickly, and his time with Bai Yucheng had been so joyful.
Most importantly, he now had an adorable little princess.
