“…Who did you say?” Zhou Qi’s eyes widened as he bristled again. “Jiang Yunxing? What? You and Jiang Yunxing?!”
“Ah.” Lin Yao ignored Zhou Qi, looking somewhat disappointed. “That’s fine then.”
Zhou Qi’s pupils shook. “Wait, Lin Yao? That’s all you’re going to say?”
“You two seem to get along well these days.” Lin Yao maintained his smile, continuing to ignore Zhou Qi while looking at Lu Heng. “We should have a meal together sometime.”
Because of what happened before class, Zhou Qi had been holding in his anger. He finally stopped bothering Lu Heng and didn’t turn around again for the entire morning.
Lu Heng naturally wouldn’t ask Lin Yao about the test questions. Although he had forgotten much of what was on the paper, he could still manage to score around 80 points.
The whole morning passed by reviewing and going over test papers, plain and boring. During each break, half the class slumped over their desks.
Only when the last class ended did the classroom come alive, with students gathering in groups to make plans for lunch at the cafeteria.
Lu Heng left alone. Thinking he should keep up appearances, he went to Class 6’s door.
Fortunately, Jiang Yunxing hadn’t left yet and was talking with two people.
Those two seemed to be inviting him to lunch. He said something, and they left together.
Leaving Jiang Yunxing alone.
At this moment, Jiang Yunxing looked different from usual. His eyes were half-lowered, thick eyelashes hiding his pupils, his face expressionless, as if shutting everything out.
He appeared somewhat cold and lonely.
Just as Lu Heng spent another second wondering about Jiang Yunxing’s background, Jiang Yunxing spotted him.
His expression changed instantly. His joy was so obvious that Lu Heng could almost see his tail wagging.
He walked out of the classroom with a happy face and stood in front of Lu Heng. “Ge, you came to find me.”
“Yeah,” Lu Heng said. “Let’s have lunch together.”
“Okay.” Jiang Yunxing’s eyes sparkled. “Where should we eat?”
“Let’s check out the cafeteria first,” Lu Heng replied.
Lu Heng had attended elite schools since childhood and usually ate in their cafeterias, so he had a good impression of them.
But clearly, a regular school’s cafeteria couldn’t be compared to those of elite schools.
Lu Heng felt something was off just from looking at the building from afar. He frowned slightly, walked into the cafeteria with Jiang Yunxing with suspicion, then walked right back out.
Not to mention the mixed smell of various dishes, the enclosed space was also filled with the scents of different Alphas.
This place was not suitable for people to stay in.
“Ge, what’s wrong?” Jiang Yunxing followed him out and noticed Lu Heng’s discomfort. Remembering last night’s dinner, he asked, “You don’t want to eat at the cafeteria?”
Lu Heng hummed in agreement and said, “Let’s look outside.”
They left school and found many small shops nearby selling various boxed meals.
Lu Heng gave up after just one glance at other people’s meals.
He took out his phone to order takeout, but all the decent restaurants were too far away. The fastest delivery would take an hour.
The lunch break at school was only an hour long.
Lu Heng’s mood hit rock bottom. He stuffed his phone back into his pocket. “I’m not eating.”
“Hey, how can you not eat? You’ll get hungry.”
Jiang Yunxing grabbed Lu Heng’s wrist, but Lu Heng quickly broke free with his strength. Left with no choice, Jiang Yunxing used both hands to hold onto Lu Heng’s shoulders.
He half-pushed, half-dragged Lu Heng forward, coaxing, “There’s a supermarket nearby. Let’s check it out. They should have something you can eat.”
Lu Heng followed Jiang Yunxing in a foul mood. When they reached the supermarket, the clean environment lifted his spirits a bit.
“Ge, look.” Jiang Yunxing glanced around and pointed at the refrigerated shelves nearby. “They have ready meals, rice balls, sandwiches, and stuff. See anything you like?”
Lu Heng looked from afar. The food items were neatly arranged on the refrigerated shelves, making a decent first impression.
He walked over and examined the food, accidentally catching sight of the prices.
So cheap… would it be safe to eat?
Jiang Yunxing didn’t follow him but went to another shelf. As Lu Heng stood alone at the refrigerated section, still struggling with his decision, he caught movement from a small room nearby.
Someone came out carrying goods. They stopped in their tracks as soon as they walked out. Lu Heng sensed the stare and turned his head. It was Xu He.
“Fuck, what are you doing here?” Xu He’s expression twisted with undisguised disgust. “Get lost. You’re not welcome here.”
Lu Heng’s gaze turned cold, his eyes shooting daggers.
He remembered Jiang Yunxing mentioning that Xu He worked at the supermarket near the school.
He had no intention of dealing with this person. His interest in the food also vanished because of him, so he turned to leave.
But Xu He called after him, “Hey, wait.”
Lu Heng ignored him, but Xu He had somehow put down his goods and caught up, grabbing Lu Heng’s shoulder.
He forcefully turned Lu Heng around and shoved his face close.
Xu He opened his mouth, pointing at a gap. “This tooth, how are you going to compensate me for it?”
Lu Heng coldly glanced at it, repulsed by Xu He’s behavior.
He hated being touched without permission.
Seeing Lu Heng’s silence, Xu He pressed closer, getting more aggressive.
The scent of wine invaded Lu Heng’s nose. He frowned and glared at Xu He.
“How about you kneel and kowtow to me?”
Xu He’s expression matched his pheromones, full of provocation.
Using pheromones to force Omegas into submission was an Alpha’s privilege. Although despicable, it was very effective.
But the Omega Xu He encountered was Lu Heng.
Xu He dismissed what happened yesterday afternoon as an accident, not thinking Lu Heng was any different.
However, this time, he witnessed it again.
Lu Heng stood motionless, his expression unchanged, but a strong lime scent burst out in an instant.
The colorless vapor merged with the air. Although it was invisible, its presence was overwhelming.
Xu He’s face turned pale instantly. Despite standing in front of the refrigerated shelves, sweat quickly formed on his forehead.
His legs felt weak, but not wanting to admit defeat in front of Lu Heng, he forced himself to stand, his calves trembling involuntarily.
Lu Heng pushed him away, looking at him with disgust. “How’s that for payback?”
“…”
Waves of pheromones continued to pour out. Lu Heng’s dominance didn’t diminish, but his hands secretly clenched tight.
This was his first time consciously releasing pheromones. The power should not be underestimated, but he could not control it.
The already-released pheromones were enough to apply pressure, but Lu Heng couldn’t stop.
His nape felt like it was submerged in boiling water, as if someone was constantly hammering at his bones beneath the skin.
That area quickly went numb, and Lu Heng’s consciousness began to blur.
He needed to leave now.
Lu Heng thought this, but his feet felt like lead, unable to move.
Xu He wasn’t faring any better.
The fine sweat on his forehead gathered into large drops, rolling down his face.
His face turned purple, and he finally couldn’t hold back anymore. He hunched over, clutching his collar, gasping for air.
Like he was deprived of oxygen, he struggled to breathe, barely managing to squeeze out a few words through gritted teeth. “You’re… insane…”
Lu Heng could no longer hear his words clearly, nor could he see the scene before him.
His brows furrowed deeply, wanting to tell Xu He to get lost, but couldn’t speak.
The scent of wine was completely overwhelmed. The entire aisle filled with the fragrance of lime.
At this hour, there was no one else in the supermarket, even the checkout counter was empty.
Lu Heng felt everything growing dark, his body starting to float.
A whiff of tobacco scent drifted over, and a pair of hands grabbed Lu Heng’s arms, followed by an anxious voice.
“Ge, are you okay?”
Lu Heng regained some consciousness, barely making out Jiang Yunxing’s swaying figure as his head rested on his shoulder.
His mind was still foggy, but he clearly caught that tobacco scent, unconsciously lifting his head and moving closer to Jiang Yunxing’s neck.
Jiang Yunxing held Lu Heng with one arm while pressing his other hand against Lu Heng’s nape, quickly pulling away.
“It’s so hot,” Jiang Yunxing’s voice changed. “Ge, calm down! Your pheromones are everywhere here.”
“…” Lu Heng wanted to say he was perfectly calm, but he couldn’t make a sound.
The scent of tobacco drew him in. He wanted more, but the fragrance kept growing fainter.
Lu Heng frowned in displeasure, his nose almost touching Jiang Yunxing’s neck. He slowed his breathing to catch that scent, and the throbbing at the back of his neck eased slightly.
Jiang Yunxing thought Lu Heng was taking deep breaths to calm down, so he turned his attention to Xu He.
After Jiang Yunxing arrived, Lu Heng’s pheromones in the air had dissipated somewhat. Xu He could barely breathe, but he was still slightly hunched over, looking quite unwell.
“Xu He, don’t go too far. Why are you picking on him alone?” Jiang Yunxing said.
When Jiang Yunxing got angry, his presence was much weaker than Lu Heng’s. Xu He had recovered his breath and looked up at Jiang Yunxing before straightening up.
Lu Heng had his back to Xu He, his head buried in Jiang Yunxing’s neck. Although his expression wasn’t visible and the oppressive pheromones had disappeared, Xu He was still afraid.
He refused to back down verbally, but his confidence had clearly diminished. “Are you fucking blind? Who was bullying whom just now?”
“Are you saying you were bullied by an Omega?” Jiang Yunxing snorted coldly with disdain. “This wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t provoke him. You deserve it!”
“…” If Lu Heng could speak right now, he really wanted to tell Jiang Yunxing to shut up.
The tobacco scent had faded to almost nothing. Lu Heng felt an irrepressible irritation rising in his chest, and he moved even closer to Jiang Yunxing.
His nose touched Jiang Yunxing’s scent gland, tip slowly rubbing against it, his lips parting unconsciously.
Damn, he smelled so good.
Finally, Jiang Yunxing noticed something was wrong with Lu Heng. He placed his hand on the back of Lu Heng’s head and glared at Xu He. “Why are you still standing there? Aren’t you supposed to be stocking shelves?”
Xu He seemed reluctant to lose face. After Jiang Yunxing’s words, he stood there for a while longer before finally turning away with his goods.
Watching him walk to another shelf to stock items, Jiang Yunxing sighed in relief and turned his head to look at Lu Heng.
He tried to pull Lu Heng in front of him, but Lu Heng wouldn’t let go. His grip was too strong to break.
Jiang Yunxing gave up and let him keep hugging him like a bear. “Ge? Are you okay?”
Lu Heng noticed the changes in his body.
He bit his tongue hard, the pain barely pulling him back to his senses.
“I’m in heat,” Lu Heng said calmly, but his breath was scorching hot against Jiang Yunxing’s neck.
Such a bold statement delivered in Lu Heng’s flat tone made Jiang Yunxing blush, feeling a bit lost.
He belatedly noticed that the lime scent in the air had subtly changed. The pheromones from Lu Heng’s neck were still spreading, but they’d shifted from oppressive to enticing.
Lu Heng moved his head slightly, leaning on Jiang Yunxing’s shoulder and looking up at him.
His usually emotionless eyes were clouded with a layer of mist. That gaze made Jiang Yunxing’s mind go blank.
He stared straight ahead in a daze as Lu Heng whispered in his ear, “The suppressants are in the classroom.”
