Chapter 23

Although Lu Heng regained his senses, he was still weak from releasing too much pheromones earlier and receiving another mark.

He held onto Jiang Yunxing’s neck as the latter helped him back to his office. Lu Heng let out a long breath after lying down on the bed in the lounge.

Jiang Yunxing went to the small bathroom and came back with a wet towel. He sat by the bed and wiped Lu Heng’s hands.

Lu Heng lay on his side, glancing at his phone screen before his gaze fixed on Jiang Yunxing’s face.

It was barely 10 o’clock when he texted Jiang Yunxing, but now it was already 10:30.

About forty minutes of his memory was completely blank.

But the traces left on his body and hands were enough evidence of what he had done.

Men had physical needs, and there was nothing wrong with taking care of it himself. But during that time, doing just that wasn’t enough.

If Jiang Yunxing hadn’t arrived in time to mark him, Lu Heng didn’t know what more outrageous things he might have done.

After wiping Lu Heng’s hands, Jiang Yunxing glanced at his clothes a few times and lowered his head to dab with the towel.

Lu Heng remained still, his gaze wandering over Jiang Yunxing’s face, harboring a deep desire he wasn’t even aware of.

Due to their earlier activities, Jiang Yunxing had gotten some stuff on himself too, but he was in an even worse state.

Jiang Yunxing kept wiping, but it seemed he couldn’t clean it properly. Looking troubled and embarrassed, he could only keep his head down.

Lu Heng gestured toward the distance with his chin. “There are spare clothes in there.”

Jiang Yunxing’s hand paused, and he hurriedly tried to stand up, but Lu Heng grabbed his wrist.

In their rush earlier, they didn’t turn on the lights. Only moonlight and the glow from the opposite building filtered through the window.

Lu Heng traced Jiang Yunxing’s silhouette. The marked spot throbbed faintly, foreign pheromones mingling with his own in his glands, making it impossible to ignore.

The doctor told him that after three temporary marks, he wouldn’t be satisfied with the status quo.

But this was only the second time, and he was already unsatisfied.

Just holding Jiang Yunxing’s wrist, just looking at him like this, his body was already responding.

Jiang Yunxing turned his head, slightly confused. “…Ge?”

Before he could say more, Lu Heng pulled him back with force, making him fall onto the bed.

“You must have read a lot of these kinds of novels, right?” Lu Heng said.

Although the question seemed random, Jiang Yunxing understood he meant the novels they had transmigrated to.

Jiang Yunxing’s face heated up. “Not really…”

Lu Heng propped himself up with one hand and raised the other to cup the back of Jiang Yunxing’s head.

“What else have you read?” Lu Heng asked.

Jiang Yunxing paused. “Why are you asking this…”

“You should know that just kissing isn’t enough right now.”

Jiang Yunxing fell silent.

Lu Heng moved closer until their lips almost touched, his breath ghosting over Jiang Yunxing’s skin. “Just looking? Have you done it with anyone else?”

Jiang Yunxing’s face burned. “No…”

Lu Heng lingered for a moment before gently biting Jiang Yunxing’s lower lip. “Then let’s try now.”

Lu Heng yanked Jiang Yunxing’s hand and pulled them both onto the bed. He gripped Jiang Yunxing’s neck firmly with one hand to keep him from leaving, while his other hand wandered elsewhere.

The previously suppressed gland stirred again, releasing an intense lime scent.

Jiang Yunxing broke away from Lu Heng’s kiss and said anxiously, “Ge, do you have suppressants in your office? Let me get them for you…”

“…Enough talk.” Lu Heng grew impatient. He grabbed Jiang Yunxing’s hair, forcing him to look up and meet his eyes. “I told you, I only like obedient ones.”

“…”

Jiang Yunxing pressed his lips together, his face showing an internal struggle.

Lu Heng caressed Jiang Yunxing’s face. “Hurry up, do it with me.”

Although reason told Jiang Yunxing not to rush into this, there was no room for logic at this moment.

It was Jiang Yunxing’s first time, and his movements were shy and hesitant, but Lu Heng didn’t see it that way. Instead, he took the initiative.

Only when the entire room was filled with their mingled scents did everything finally end.

Lu Heng fell into a satisfied sleep. After cleaning up himself and the blankets, Jiang Yunxing lay down beside him.

Excitement and despair mixed together, making it hard for him to breathe at times.

He was excited about getting closer to Lu Heng, but despaired knowing it was all because of pheromones.

Lu Heng wasn’t interested in relationships, let alone with a newly-adult kid like him.

To Lu Heng, sleeping with him was only because of their pheromone compatibility, because he could cure Lu Heng’s condition.

But that wasn’t the case for him.

He knew he was being childish. Just because they had transmigrated together, just because they had spent this short time together, he wanted to give his whole heart to Lu Heng.

But Lu Heng was the only one who treated him so kindly, both in reality and here.

“Ge.” Jiang Yunxing tightened his arms slightly, buried his nose in Lu Heng’s hair, and took a deep breath. “…I like you so much.”

It was a fondness that had nothing to do with pheromones.

Due to his biological clock, Lu Heng usually woke up at six every morning.

But today, his biological clock failed him.

When Lu Heng woke up, he heard slight movements behind him. He tried to turn over, but a sharp pain shot through his waist.

Lu Heng drew in a breath, frowning as scenes from last night flooded back.

It wasn’t a big deal though. Although Jiang Yunxing’s movements were inexperienced, he still enjoyed it. Judging by how clean his body felt, Jiang Yunxing had done a good job taking care of him afterward.

Lu Heng gathered his strength and successfully turned over, spotting Jiang Yunxing standing in the bathroom.

Jiang Yunxing saw him too. “Ge, you’re awake.”

Lu Heng grunted and asked in a hoarse voice, “What time is it?”

“Six-thirty.” Jiang Yunxing adjusted his collar. Noticing Lu Heng staring at him, he explained, “Um, my clothes were dirty, so I borrowed one from your closet…”

The closet was filled with formal wear. Jiang Yunxing spent quite some time finding this relatively casual shirt.

The shirt was a bit tight on Jiang Yunxing since Lu Heng was smaller. He unbuttoned the top two buttons and cuffs, casually rolling up the sleeves to his elbows. On his neck was a band-aid covering where Lu Heng had unexpectedly bitten him last night.

Lu Heng noticed the band-aid and felt his teeth itch.

“I need to go to school.” Jiang Yunxing walked out of the bathroom, stood awkwardly for a moment, then stepped to the bedside and pulled Lu Heng’s blanket up.

After tucking him in, Jiang Yunxing said, “Ge, get some more sleep. Remember to eat breakfast later, don’t work too hard, and make sure to rest.”

Lu Heng closed his eyes contentedly and hummed in response after Jiang Yunxing finished speaking.

“I’ll go now,” Jiang Yunxing said.

“Mm,” Lu Heng responded.

Having spent too much energy last night, drowsiness quickly overcame Lu Heng. In his hazy consciousness, he felt something warm and wet touch his forehead.

Lu Heng opened his eyes in surprise, but Jiang Yunxing had already reached the door with his bag. Before closing it, he turned back with a red face and said, “I’m leaving.”

The door closed softly. Through the window, Lu Heng watched Jiang Yunxing hurriedly leave the office, taking a while to process what had happened.

After a long moment, he closed his eyes again and let out a soft, faint laugh.

After another hour of sleep, Lu Heng felt mostly recovered. He freshened up and went to the employee cafeteria.

Although he wasn’t particularly fond of the cafeteria food, after last night’s activities, Lu Heng was starving and had to make do with what was available.

Fortunately, the food tasted good. After eating alone, he headed back to his office.

After spending several days at the company, the employees now recognized him and would bow their heads and greet him when they saw him.

Today, people unusually kept their distance from Lu Heng. Even during lunch, no one sat at the same table with him.

Lu Heng found it strange but didn’t think too much about it. There was always new work every day. As soon as he arrived at work, four or five documents had already piled up on his desk. He had no time to ponder over his employees’ odd behavior.

After handling several documents, Fang Zaiqi came in and handed him a separate file.

Lu Heng glanced at the title and frowned slightly. “Do I need to review a birthday party too?”

“It’s Young Master Lu Tian’s coming-of-age banquet. Mr. Lu wants to hold it together with the branch office’s hundred-day celebration. We’ll be using the company’s exhibition hall. Mr. Lu specifically emphasized that you need to organize it personally.”

The Mr. Lu that Fang Zaiqi mentioned was Lu Shenghua. Looking at it now, Lu Tian’s birthday would indeed be in a little over a month.

In reality, Lu Tian and Lu Ying were twins, three years younger than Lu Heng, but here Lu Tian was only a year younger than him.

Every time Lu Heng thought about reality, he felt disoriented. This place seemed identical to reality in many ways, yet different in many details.

He seemed to still be Lu Heng, living Lu Heng’s life, but in fact, the Lu Heng in the book and he were completely different people.

Lu Heng snapped back to reality and casually looked through several pages. Since this was Lu Shenghua’s request, he had no reason to refuse.

The event proposal was already very thorough. After a quick review, Lu Heng put the file on his desk. “This is fine. Just follow the proposal.”

“Understood.” Fang Zaiqi collected the file and turned to leave.

After a few steps, Lu Heng called out to him. “Has Wu Chong’s contract termination been processed?”

Fang Zaiqi paused and replied, “Yes, it was completed yesterday morning.”

“Did he leave after that?” Lu Heng frowned. “He was still hiding in the company at 10 PM last night. He tried to attack me when I was leaving.”

Fang Zaiqi’s expression changed slightly as he looked up. “It’s because the security was lacking. Are you okay, sir?”

He appeared concerned, but Lu Heng could see the insincerity in his worry.

How could a fired employee hide in the company for so long? No matter how resentful he was, without someone backing him, he wouldn’t dare to just rush out and attack Lu Heng.

Someone must have been supporting Wu Chong, but Lu Heng didn’t want to think about who it might be.

This world was different from reality, seemingly devoid of humanity. None of these people around him could be trusted.

Lu Heng waved his hand dismissively. “I’m fine. Just make sure security is more stringent. I don’t want this happening again.”

“Yes, I’ll relay the message,” Fang Zaiqi said.

Fang Zaiqi left quickly, gently closing the door. He glanced through the window one more time. Lu Heng had already returned to work.

Fang Zaiqi walked a few steps forward, out of Lu Heng’s line of sight, and took out his phone.

He found the chat labeled “Mr. Lu” and sent several messages.

-Wu Chong failed. He said Young Master Lu’s pheromones could fight back.

-But Young Master Lu had strong pheromones on him, he must have been marked last night.
