ILL Background

The short story ends here. Overall, I feel quite uneasy because this story is adapted from a real event, which was even more cruel than depicted in the story. I took some liberties in the adaptation, so it may differ from the original story. The original story was something I came across in a comment section while using a social media app:

(The main characters will be referred to as A and B)

It tells the story of A and B, who were good friends for many years. A had been secretly in love with B all along, but B was unaware. A never dared to confess their feelings to B and stayed by B’s side as a friend for eight years. Then, one year, as B’s birthday approached, A prepared a birthday gift for B and set out with a birthday cake to celebrate with B. However, on the way to meet B, A got into a car accident and died on the spot.

It was only after A’s death that B found out about A’s love that had lasted for eight years. A had planned to confess their feelings to B on B’s birthday that year, but tragically, A unexpectedly passed away in the accident before being able to do so.

Later on, B accepted A’s feelings, but it was all too late.

This is roughly how the story goes. When I read this passage, I felt suffocated, unable to believe how fate could be so cruel. Therefore, after reading this story, I was deeply moved and felt compelled to write something to commemorate them.

Although I do not know how B is living now, I still hope that everything is well for them!
