MRSSG Chapter 12 – A Smooth Wedding
by RaineHuhu Gets Targeted
Ying Huaiting and Hu Hu quickly obtained their marriage certificate at the human Civil Affairs Bureau. Same-sex marriage was now legal, and although there were some questions about them getting married at eighteen, nothing more was said about it.
The problem came at the Supernatural Management Bureau.
The Bureau was located in a rather remote area, and it took Hu Hu and Ying Huaiting several hours to get there.
Once they arrived, Hu Hu was scolded by the Bureau’s higher-ups. “How dare you bring a human to the Bureau without permission! What if they have ulterior motives? We’d have to relocate again!”
Hu Hu felt guilty.
But after chatting with Ying Huaiting and learning he was from A University and had close ties with its principal, the officials’ attitude changed completely. They warmly received him and while processing his supernatural ID, even blessed his and Hu Hu’s marriage with a happy marriage1 and a lifetime without divorce.
Ying Huaiting: “……”
What a practical blessing.
Ying Huaiting’s supernatural ID came with restrictions. It could only be used for marriage and divorce purposes. He didn’t mind though, since marriage was its only intended use anyway.
The clerk handling their marriage registration was a rabbit spirit with long ears.
The rabbit spirit pushed up their glasses and scrutinized their supernatural IDs with a serious expression, speaking with an air of wisdom, “Human-supernatural unions aren’t particularly rare these days. But Mr. Hu Hu, you are a fox spirit.”
Hu Hu suddenly tensed up. “Are fox spirits not allowed to marry?”
The rabbit spirit shook their head, “That’s not it. Have you ever consumed yang essence?”
Hu Hu answered honestly, “Yes.”
The rabbit spirit concluded, “So you’re certified on the supernatural network as… a somewhat promiscuous fox spirit. In that case, why marry? Won’t you just cheat after marriage?”
The rabbit spirit refrained from using “cheap fox spirit,” showcasing the Bureau staff’s professional courtesy.
But Hu Hu was angry! His fox ears stood straight up in fury, “You want to call me a cheap fox spirit, don’t you! I won’t cheat! We fox spirits are very loyal after marriage!”
Ying Huaiting backed him up. “He really won’t. Can we proceed with the registration?”
Upon hearing the human’s pleasant voice, the rabbit spirit turned to question Ying Huaiting. “Are you sure you want to marry a fox spirit? Or rather, what’s your purpose in marrying him?”
Hu Hu was furious!
Ying Huaiting reached out to stroke Hu Hu’s ears. Hu Hu calmed down a bit at the touch, his fox ears nuzzling against Ying Huaiting’s palm.
Ying Huaiting spoke words of love with a calm expression, “No purpose. I just love him.”
Hu Hu’s fox ears folded back shyly.
The rabbit spirit continued asking, “You love his looks? Love him enough to not care if he cheats on you? He’s consumed your yang essence. Marrying you might just be his way to legally consume more!”
That was the last straw! Hu Hu slammed both hands on the desk and snarled, “I would never! I have principles. I wouldn’t marry someone I don’t love! And what’s this about legally consuming yang essence? Ying Huaiting would let me have it even without marriage!”
The rabbit spirit jumped in surprise.
Ying Huaiting quickly checked Hu Hu’s hands, which were slightly red, and asked softly, “Does it hurt?”
Hu Hu shook his head angrily, “No, it doesn’t!”
Ying Huaiting glanced at the rabbit spirit, his voice turning cold, “He won’t cheat. Hu Hu isn’t cheap or promiscuous. We chose to register our marriage because we’re prepared for it.”
Hu Hu looked at Ying Huaiting with eyes full of emotion.
The rabbit spirit could only say, “Fine, I’m just looking out for you both. Humans and supernaturals have different natures. Especially since he’s…”
“He’s not. Just process our registration. Or I’ll file a complaint.” Ying Huaiting’s tone was ice-cold.
Afraid of being reported, the rabbit spirit hurriedly pulled out the marriage registration documents and didn’t dare say another word.
After getting their marriage certificate and leaving the Bureau, Hu Hu immediately hugged Ying Huaiting, his fox ears drooping, “That rabbit spirit discriminated against fox spirits. Thank you for defending me, Ying Huaiting.”
Ying Huaiting felt bad for Hu Hu.
Just to get married, Hu Hu was accused of being promiscuous. Did his classmates say similar things when he was at supernatural school?
Ying Huaiting stroked Hu Hu’s ears, his voice much gentler, “Were you bullied in school?”
Hu Hu nuzzled against Ying Huaiting’s neck, sniffing the pleasant yang essence, acting like a clingy fox spirit, “No one bullied me.”
Ying Huaiting: “Really?”
Hu Hu hummed and nuzzled harder against Ying Huaiting, “Really. A lot of stuff on the supernatural network is outdated, and we rarely needed to use it anyway. So my classmates didn’t know I was labeled as a cheap fox spirit there. Maybe some knew, but there were many fox spirits at school, so they wouldn’t dare say anything. We fox spirits stick together, and we’re good at fighting.”
Ying Huaiting couldn’t help but laugh at Hu Hu’s “fox spirits stick together and are good at fighting.”
He didn’t know about their fighting skills, but they certainly were strong.
“If you weren’t bullied,” Ying Huaiting tried to push Hu Hu’s head away, “all the supernaturals outside are watching you, Hu Hu. Let go.”
Hu Hu clung to Ying Huaiting, whining sweetly, “I won’t let go. Ying Huaiting, my love meter for you is maxed out now!”
Naturally, Ying Huaiting couldn’t bring himself to push Hu Hu away.
Hu Hu looked up. “Ying Huaiting, do you really believe I’m neither cheap nor promiscuous?” His eyes sparkled.
Ying Huaiting gave Hu Hu an exasperated look, “As a fox, you should have some self-awareness. Although you are a cheap fox spirit, I won’t let others, human or supernatural, say that about you.”
Hu Hu pouted. “Fine, my cheap husband.”
Ying Huaiting: “……”
On their way back, Hu Hu held onto Ying Huaiting’s arm while deep in thought. Ying Huaiting was admiring their two marriage certificates.
Back in the dorm room, because there was a fox spirit there, Ying Huaiting always locked the door upon return. Just as he locked it, Hu Hu suddenly exclaimed, “I know why they acted that way!”
Ying Huaiting glanced at Hu Hu, “Why who acted what way?”
Hu Hu’s fox ears popped out again. According to him, supernatural beings loved showing their ears and tails because it felt comfortable. Hu Hu couldn’t show his tail yet because his pants weren’t suitable.
Hu Hu walked up to Ying Huaiting, looking serious. “I heard from my dad that a hundred years ago, the rabbit spirits lost a territory fight with us fox spirits, so rabbit spirits and fox spirits don’t get along. But I didn’t take it seriously because it happened a hundred years ago, and the rabbit spirits at supernatural school got along fine with us fox spirits. Now I think that rabbit spirit might be a descendant of those territory-fighting rabbits, which is why they’re prejudiced against fox spirits!”
Ying Huaiting: “……”
Ying Huaiting smoothed down Hu Hu’s upright fox ears, and couldn’t help but call him an “idiot.”
At this random “idiot,” Hu Hu launched his fox-head attack on Ying Huaiting! His fox ears tickled Ying Huaiting’s chin.
“Still calling me an idiot? Ying Huaiting!”
After several fox-head attacks, Ying Huaiting couldn’t resist and kissed Hu Hu’s fox ear.
Hu Hu froze.
The fox-head attack… stopped working.
Ying Huaiting said, “I won’t say it anymore, you’re killing me with cuteness. Huhu, now we need to meet the parents. Are your parents easy to get along with?”
Hu Hu fainted!
