WAYCAV Chapter 51
by RaineSu Zhiyan felt a bit dazed.
What had he just done?
Shen Nianjing sat cross-legged on the edge of the bed, looking down at him with drooping eyebrows. He looked completely pitiful and was covering his waist with his hand.
He stared at him with a pitiful expression that could rival Lin Daiyu1‘s tearful beauty.
Su Zhiyan: “…?”
He looked down and saw that his leg was still in a kicking position. He sat up in shock.
He had actually kicked Shen Nianjing?!
“Su Zhiyan,” Shen Nianjing mumbled, “you have really bad morning temper.”
Then he leaned forward, taking Su Zhiyan’s hand and placing it on his own waist with a faint smile. “It hurts so much, massage it for me.”
Su Zhiyan: “…”
Even though there was a layer of fabric between them, the sensation of human skin felt startlingly real. He jerked his hand back.
The light in Shen Nianjing’s eyes dimmed, and he felt a bit disappointed.
“I-I had a nightmare.” Su Zhiyan turned his face away and struggled to explain, “I thought you were the monster in my dream, so I kicked you. I’m sorry…”
Shen Nianjing gave him a half-smile. “A monster, huh? Was this monster cute?”
Su Zhiyan: “…”
He suddenly remembered the dream where Shen Nianjing looked at him with dark, passionate eyes, completely different from the person who was now pouting and smiling at him.
His cheeks warmed slightly, and he said in a muffled voice, “…Not cute.”
Shen Nianjing raised an eyebrow, his tone suddenly turning cold, “Great, Su Zhiyan.”
“It’s bad enough that you kicked me first thing in the morning, but you also think of me as some ugly monster.”
His expression was serious and unsmiling, like he was really angry.
Su Zhiyan really didn’t know how to explain now. He clasped his palms together and held them sincerely against his forehead, apologizing hard, “I’m sorry, really sorry. How about you kick me back?”
He closed his eyes tightly, looking very nervous, as if he really thought Shen Nianjing would kick him to get even.
Shen Nianjing stayed silent for a moment, then turned away and laughed.
Whether he was laughing from anger at being kicked or for some other reason, who knew.
Su Zhiyan heard his laughter and felt even more guilty.
He really didn’t mean to kick him, he just couldn’t control himself.
“It was just my body’s instinctive reaction, I really didn’t mean to—”
“Su Zhiyan,” Shen Nianjing interrupted, his gaze calm, “I won’t kick you.”
Su Zhiyan opened his eyes and looked up.
Shen Nianjing’s eyes held a faint smile as he scooted closer to Su Zhiyan and tilted his head, “But since I got kicked for no reason, I am really pitiful.”
“Comfort me~”
He leaned forward, looking up at Su Zhiyan with his face tilted up.
His phoenix eyes were bright and lively, completely different from the wilted person from just moments ago.
Su Zhiyan felt a bit embarrassed looking at him.
After all, he was the one who kicked Shen Nianjing. He didn’t expect that not only was Shen Nianjing not angry, but he seemed to want to comfort him instead.
With a helpless smile, Su Zhiyan met Shen Nianjing’s gaze…
Then he cupped Shen Nianjing’s face in his hands.
Shen Nianjing’s eyes, which had been full of laughter, suddenly froze as he stared at him blankly.
Su Zhiyan smiled gently, “Thank you, Xiao Nianjing.”
Thank you for being so good to him, so understanding, always.
Su Zhiyan felt like he had never had such a close friend in his entire life. Except for some female friends from middle school who were thoughtful and considerate, very few people made him feel relaxed and happy when spending time together.
He was someone who didn’t know how to make friends and found it hard to understand other people’s emotions, so very few people got close to him. But since getting to know Shen Nianjing, he discovered that this problem of his was slowly getting better.
Although the improvement was minimal, at least he wasn’t like when he was little, when people would joke that he was “cold-hearted and emotionless.”
Thinking about it this way, that damn dream didn’t seem so damn bad after all.
It would be even better if the dream had more normal content though.
Shen Nianjing’s breathing quickened. He stared at Su Zhiyan in a daze for a few seconds, then quickly got up and rushed into the bathroom.
Su Zhiyan: “?”
Why did he suddenly run off like that?
Shen Nianjing ran so fast that he crashed into the door with a loud “bang,” but he didn’t care at all and twisted around to squeeze into the bathroom.
The sound was really loud, and Su Zhiyan got a bit worried, so he got out of bed and walked over.
“Shen Nianjing…” he called out loudly over the sound of rushing water, “Are you okay?”
“Where did you hit yourself? Come out and let me take a look.”
Shen Nianjing didn’t answer for a long time.
Su Zhiyan bent down to check the door. Yep, no cracks.
That crash was really hard. Was it necessary to run that fast?
“I’ll go get you some safflower oil2,” he called out again.
The bathroom glass normally showed silhouettes, but Shen Nianjing seemed to have draped a large towel over it. Now only the sound of water could be heard.
Su Zhiyan sighed and frowned, “Taking a shower on an empty stomach isn’t good for your body.”
After standing there thinking for a moment, Su Zhiyan went back to the bedroom and picked up the phone by the bed.
They could order breakfast until 9:30 in the morning. After explaining what he needed to the staff, he hesitated for a moment and said, “And bring up a bottle of safflower oil too.”
“Mm-hmm, okay, thank you.”
After hanging up, he leaned against the headboard waiting for Shen Nianjing while playing on his phone.
Yesterday, Shen Nianjing insisted that he add a little bowtie to his own profile picture’s little bear too. Though this was really such a trivial thing, and Su Zhiyan didn’t think it was necessary…
But Su Zhiyao had a little butterfly bow, and Shen Nianjing had a little bowtie, while he had nothing… that wasn’t fair.
So Su Zhiyan worked hard to draw himself a light blue bowtie.
“Ding ring~”
The doorbell rang, and Su Zhiyan put down his phone.
“Hello, room service.”
“Okay, thank you.”
He set up breakfast in the living room, then sat on the sofa and waited another five minutes.
Shen Nianjing still hadn’t come out.
Su Zhiyan walked to the bathroom door and knocked, “Breakfast is here.”
The sound of water stopped, and Su Zhiyan heard a low, muffled “okay” from inside.
“Why are you taking so long?” Su Zhiyan urged, his tone full of worry, “You can’t take hot showers for too long on an empty stomach, you’ll get dizzy.”
After a long silence, Shen Nianjing’s hoarse voice replied, “I know. You go out first.”
Fine then. Su Zhiyan huffed, flipping off the bathroom door mentally. Don’t believe me? Just wait until you get dizzy then.
By the time he finished eating while scrolling through his phone in the living room, Shen Nianjing finally came out of the shower.
Su Zhiyan looked up. Shen Nianjing had already changed clothes and fixed his messy morning hair. At first glance, he looked like a particularly young and handsome guy, except he almost fell when he sat down.
Su Zhiyan held back his laughter, “Can’t even sit properly now? Dizzy?”
Shen Nianjing smiled, “I’m fine.”
He had just hit his right knee pretty hard, so sitting down hurt a bit. It had nothing to do with taking a hot shower on an empty stomach.
After all, he didn’t even turn on the hot water.
His gaze swept over the coffee table and noticed most of the breakfast was left, “You only ate that little?”
Su Zhiyan frowned, looking a bit troubled, “It didn’t really suit my taste. I’ll just wait for lunch.”
Shen Nianjing smiled and pulled out a pretzel and a bottle of milk from his backpack, “Here, eat this instead.”
Su Zhiyan blinked, accepting them. “How do you have everything in your bag?”
“Isn’t it heavy?” he asked sincerely.
Shen Nianjing: “I like carrying weight3.”
Su Zhiyan: “…”
He silently opened the milk and took a sip, then turned and said, “Very good, keep it up.”
Shen Nianjing laughed out loud, “Su Zhiyan, do you talk to everyone like this?”
Su Zhiyan: “?”
The confusion in his eyes was too obvious, so Shen Nianjing explained, “You said the same thing to Wen Bei last time.”
Su Zhiyan thought about it but couldn’t remember.
Why did Shen Nianjing always care about such trivial little details?
“You’re not allowed to treat me the same as them,” Shen Nianjing said.
“I don’t treat you the same,” Su Zhiyan argued back. “Everyone has different interests and hobbies. How could I treat each of you exactly the same? For example, I wouldn’t buy noodles for Wen Bei because he doesn’t like them, but I can buy them for you because you love noodles.”
Shen Nianjing: “…”
He took a deep breath, forcing a smile. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Then what did you mean?” Su Zhiyan asked, confused.
Seeing that Shen Nianjing didn’t seem to want to eat right now, he directly opened the safflower oil and poured some on his hands, rubbing them together frantically to warm them up. He called out to Shen Nianjing, “Come on, show me your injury so I can put medicine on it, be good.”
Again with the tone of coaxing a child.
The sharp smell of the safflower oil filled the entire room. Shen Nianjing took a deep breath.
Mm, very cooling, soothing.
He had almost gotten aroused again just now from something Su Zhiyan said.
“Okay.”
He rolled up his pants leg. The dark bruise on his knee looked shocking against his white skin.
Su Zhiyan’s eyelid twitched and his voice got louder, “It’s this serious and you still didn’t come out sooner?”
Shen Nianjing silently watched him.
He couldn’t have come out earlier anyway.
He didn’t respond, and Su Zhiyan didn’t mind. Once his hands were warm, he pressed them firmly onto Shen Nianjing’s knee.
“Owwwwww—!”
Shen Nianjing wanted nothing more than to howl at the ceiling.
“Don’t shout!” Su Zhiyan rubbed the safflower oil in hard. Where his palm touched the knee felt burning hot.
Shen Nianjing obediently shut his mouth, his eyes watering as he stared at Su Zhiyan to distract himself.
Su Zhiyan massaged very seriously with just the right amount of pressure.
Shen Nianjing watched him and suddenly felt like that question from earlier didn’t seem so important anymore.
Su Zhiyan was already treating him specially.
It’s just, if he could be even more special, that would be nice.
Su Zhiyan finished applying the medicine and got up to go wash his hands.
Shen Nianjing followed behind him.
Su Zhiyan dried his hands clean and walked to the sofa to get clothes from his backpack.
Shen Nianjing followed him again.
Su Zhiyan found his clothes and headed back to the bedroom, and Shen Nianjing followed—
“Why are you following me around?”
Su Zhiyan turned around and almost bumped into Shen Nianjing, who quickly steadied him by the shoulders.
Su Zhiyan’s heart skipped and he quickly stepped back, “W-why do you keep following me?”
“I’m bored~”
He really must be bored for him to follow me around like a little tail.
His tone was a bit awkward, “I need to change clothes.”
Shen Nianjing raised an eyebrow, his tone casual, “Oh, go ahead and change then.”
Su Zhiyan: “…”
Psycho.
“Get out!” he demanded.
Shen Nianjing leisurely sat on the bed. “Why?”
He widened his eyes innocently, “Su Zhiyan, are you…embarrassed?”
“We’re both guys, what’s there to be embarrassed about? Don’t worry, I’ll change in front of you next time too!”
Shen Nianjing kept a straight face, his tone very serious and generous.
Su Zhiyan: “…….”
What an idiot!!!!
He wasn’t embarrassed at all. How could that word possibly apply to him?
But… Su Zhiyan gripped his clothes tighter.
Why did taking off his clothes in front of Shen Nianjing feel… weird?
He never felt this way in front of Wen Bei.
Su Zhiyan looked up, his eyes a bit moist and his face flushed with a light red. He said quietly, “If you won’t leave, then I’ll go.”
He was about to turn and leave.
Shen Nianjing’s gaze sharpened and he quickly reached out to block his path, his tone teasing, “Okay okay, I’ll go, I’ll go out. Can’t have you getting more embarrassed.”
His eyes held laughter as he stared intently at Su Zhiyan.
Su Zhiyan: “………”
AAAAAAAAAH!!!
“Get back here!” he growled. “Stay!”
