After officially getting together, many things seemed different now.

For example, Su Zhiyan discovered that Shen Nianjing kept feeding him all kinds of delicious food, and thoughtfully ordered his favorite drinks. With just one look, Shen Nianjing knew whether he wanted tissues or needed more dipping sauce.

Before, he thought this was because Shen Nianjing was a good person who treated his friends well too. Now thinking about it, Shen Nianjing didn’t seem to treat others this way at the dinner table.

He stirred the strawberry pulp at the bottom of his sparkling drink, watching the pink syrup swirl into a beautiful gradient as tiny bubbles rose, mirroring his bubbly mood.

Shen Nianjing enthusiastically piled thick slices of pork belly onto the grill. This was their habit when eating barbecue.

The golden meat sizzled, releasing mouthwatering aromas. Wrapped in lettuce with sauce, it was their favorite way to eat it.

The leftover grease would flavor other ingredients. It was perfect.

As soon as the meat was done, Shen Nianjing eagerly served Su Zhiyan with a happy smile. He never got tired of doing this.

    “Huh?”

Su Zhiyan looked up mid-bite at Shen Nianjing’s odd tone.

Shen Nianjing stared guiltily at his chopsticks. “I used my own chopsticks to serve you out of habit. I thought it was the serving tongs.”

    Su Zhiyan found it ridiculous.

They had already kissed, so was he still being picky about this?

“What’s the big deal? I don’t mind sharing with you.”

Who knew Shen Nianjing’s expression became even more wronged. His eyelids drooped and he pouted, mumbling, “You don’t mind me… if you don’t mind me, why did you stay so far away from me in the hot spring pool last time?”

    Su Zhiyan blinked. “?”

Seeing Su Zhiyan’s flat expression and confused look, Shen Nianjing couldn’t help emphasizing, “We were practically separated by the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon1 and the Mariana Trench!!”

God knows how sad he was at that time, constantly wondering if Su Zhiyan disliked him, disliked being with another guy, and his heart broke several times in silence.

Su Zhiyan frowned and remembered. At that time, he seemed to feel uncomfortable because Shen Nianjing looked somewhat reluctant to share a pool with him, but he couldn’t figure out why at the time.

Thinking of this, he also put on a little pouty face. “I was very upset at that time too, okay!”

“Your face was so cold it could compete with the weather outside.”

“You didn’t want to soak in the hot spring with me, but happily invited Wen Bei. Of course I was hurt, even if I didn’t realize it was because I liked you.”

He pouted, stabbing the meat on his plate with his chopsticks, very indignant. “Can’t you cut me some slack for being slow to recognize unfamiliar feelings?”

    “I like you.”

Shen Nianjing felt his brain buzz with heat and dizziness. His whole person was about to bubble with happiness.

He couldn’t help grinning foolishly. “Of course I can.”

His gaze locked on Su Zhiyan’s face. Shen Nianjing looked deeply at Su Zhiyan and asked, “So have you accepted it well now?”

If I haven’t by now I’d be a caveman, Su Zhiyan thought.

He gave a soft “Mm,” his voice light and gentle, scratching at Shen Nianjing’s heart like a cat’s paw.

Shen Nianjing’s smile wouldn’t come down, his eyes bright, staring at Su Zhiyan the whole time.

Su Zhiyan blushed a bit from his staring and lowered his head to focus on eating, trying to avoid this intense gaze.

Suddenly Shen Nianjing declared, “Then let’s explore this unfamiliar territory together!”

“!” Su Zhiyan choked and coughed violently several times.

Explore? What kind of word was that! Explore my ass.

Shen Nianjing immediately panicked. He frantically handed him tissues and his drink, standing up to gently pat his back and help him breathe.

After Su Zhiyan recovered, Shen Nianjing leaned down and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, then quickly returned to his seat across from him before Su Zhiyan could react.

His expression was very smug and teasing.

The dry kiss left Su Zhiyan’s face burning.

He picked up his glass and pressed it against his face to cool down, knowing the blush wouldn’t fade.

So much for winter, he kept getting hotter.

After the two got together, they seemed to become much more childish. After Shen Nianjing “turned the tables2,” Su Zhiyan also took out his little notebook and started settling old scores.

He lifted his chin slightly, looking straight over with a very proud expression. “Then let me ask you something.”

“Mm?” Shen Nianjing put down his chopsticks and sat obediently, looking like he was “at his mercy3.”

“After we came back from the hot spring, why did you suddenly disappear for two hours? I couldn’t find you anywhere, and you didn’t reply to my messages.”

He delivered the final blow decisively. “Were you avoiding me, hmm?”

Shen Nianjing froze, then his face turned bright red and his heart started beating nervously. He lowered his head to avoid Su Zhiyan’s gaze, coughed lightly, and denied, “No.”

Seeing him being evasive like this, Su Zhiyan also stood in front of him, pressed him down on the sofa and stared at him. “Explain.”

Then he started pinching Shen Nianjing’s cheeks.

“…” Shen Nianjing surrendered, kissing his wrist. “Let’s eat first. This isn’t appropriate in public.”

    Su Zhiyan: “…” Weirdo.

Since Shen Nianjing wouldn’t tell the truth, he didn’t pursue it anymore. After all, everyone had their own little secrets, which was very normal.

Although he still felt a bit uncomfortable about it, it was really just a tiny bit.

Shen Nianjing saw that he stopped asking and breathed a huge sigh of relief.

At that time, Su Zhiyan’s piano performance amazed everyone. He was so busy staring at him and being mesmerized that he only later noticed someone on Su Zhiyan’s side holding up their phone and filming almost the entire performance.

He had Su Zhiyan and Wen Bei go back first while he went to negotiate with that person. He found out the other person was a famous blogger on a certain platform who thought this could be great content material, so they casually recorded it.

Shen Nianjing told them they weren’t allowed to share it publicly, as it would affect the recorded person’s life, and the person didn’t even know they were being filmed.

At first the blogger was very stubborn, saying they would blur out faces, but they couldn’t withstand Shen Nianjing being too forceful, so he had to give up.

Only then did Shen Nianjing nod with satisfaction and took the original video while he was at it.

He sat alone in the first floor lounge at that time, opened the video, and sighed at how the professional had captured the perfect angle.

There happened to be a ray of sunlight slanting down from the floor-to-ceiling window, gently falling on Su Zhiyan and covering his whole person with a warm filter. Even his hair was glowing.

He sat in front of the piano, his slender fingers jumping around on the piano keys like little elves.

The piano sound was also very clear. Every note reached his ears, making Shen Nianjing’s heart beat non-stop.

He couldn’t help staring at the video on loop for over an hour. When he came back to his senses, his phone had died and shut off.

Only then did he realize he had been missing for a long time and hurriedly went upstairs to find Su Zhiyan.

Although there was nothing wrong with this, he thought it was too stupid and definitely couldn’t let Su Zhiyan know.

Otherwise he worried Su Zhiyan would suspect his boyfriend was an idiot.

    Boy. Friend.

Shen Nianjing giggled foolishly, his smile so bright it almost blinded Su Zhiyan’s eyes.

After the two finished eating, they found they still had half an afternoon to spend together.

“Let’s go watch a movie!” Shen Nianjing suggested.

The afternoon showings on weekdays were less crowded. A dimly lit theater, just the two of them…

Shen Nianjing’s lips curved into a smile, his heart bursting with joy.

    This ambiance was absolutely perfect!!!

“No.” Su Zhiyan was decisive. “Movies take two hours to watch. I need to go back early to organize the materials my senior sister gave me.” He patted his backpack, indicating how much work he still had to do.

“Otherwise I’ll have to stay up late tonight, and I want to sleep.”

Shen Nianjing’s fantasy was shattered. He felt very regretful.

He lowered his head and kissed the corner of Su Zhiyan’s mouth. “Fine, and besides, now that we’re together, you don’t need to worry about not sleeping well anymore.”

Hearing this, a thoughtful look flashed in Su Zhiyan’s eyes.

During this time, his contact with Shen Nianjing had been very stable. Even the dream he had at the hotel last time was because his feelings for Shen Nianjing had projected into his dreams.

He hadn’t tried in a long time to see what would happen if he didn’t have contact with Shen Nianjing.

    Were the dreams still evolving?

Or… would they have limits like Shen Nianjing’s dreams and then suddenly disappear?

    Su Zhiyan thought carefully.

He turned to look at Shen Nianjing, his tone serious. “If I’m in contact with you every day, then I won’t know if I still have dreams or not.”

    Shen Nianjing: “?”

He didn’t understand what Su Zhiyan meant and shook Su Zhiyan’s hand, waiting for him to continue.

Su Zhiyan looked at him. “How about this.”

He let go of Shen Nianjing’s hand and stepped back. “Let’s test it. Tomorrow we’ll keep more than half a meter distance all day to prevent contact.”

“I want to see if I still have dreams.” His expression was determined.

    Shen Nianjing: “!!!!”

He looked at Su Zhiyan in disbelief, his eyes full of shock, confusion, and a bit of heartbreak.

    What?

How long had they been dating?

Had it even been two hours?

And now he was letting go of his hand?

Not touching for a whole day?

Wasn’t this torture for him? It absolutely was!!!

Shen Nianjing’s heart ached. His whole person was about to shatter all over the street.

    He really deserved to die!

Why did he have to mention contact and sleeping well!

Now look what happened! Was he satisfied!

Shen Nianjing now wanted nothing more than to go back in time and slap himself twice.

“Are you in such a hurry…” He shuffled over to Su Zhiyan and tugged at his sleeve, smiling sweetly. “I actually think we could test it in half a month.”

Su Zhiyan thought silently for a moment and shook his head. “Half a month would be finals week. That won’t work.”

    Shen Nianjing: “…”

    “Then one week?”

“Don’t procrastinate.” Su Zhiyan met Shen Nianjing’s pleading gaze and his tone softened. “It’s just one day. It’ll pass quickly.”

“Fine.” Shen Nianjing said in a low voice, his eyes growing dim.

He reached up to hold Su Zhiyan’s waist and found a hidden corner where no one was around.

“Then let’s have more contact today.”

After saying this, he lowered his head, pinched Su Zhiyan’s chin and kissed him even more intensely.
